Linehan seriously makes $2mil/yr as our OC? wow....no words.............
If the logic is faulty, then how do you explain why Jimmy Johnson, John Gruden, and Phil Cowher never returned to coaching, although Johnson coached the Miami Dolphins for a few seasons, after leaving the Cowboys, but that was years ago. All of them had other chances to be a HC and they all passed on the opportunity.
The reason why I asked your age was to see if there was a gap between yours and mine. I am 61 and probably see things a little differently then you do at 46. It doesn't mean either of us is wrong. I guess that we will find out if the opportunity opens up.
Garrett made 3M per when he was the OC and Wade was the HC.Linehan seriously makes $2mil/yr as our OC? wow....no words.............
I personally hope Linehan gets a head coaching gig next season. I have never cared for his offense.
In my opinion he is more of a play caller, than offensive coordinator. Good coordinators, use play designs and calls that play off each other, where as most of Dallas' offense is just a bunch of disjointed plays.
Some of that is JG's fault in my opinion, he seems to be of the mindset of a smaller play book / route tree and putting a larger emphasis on execution.
I think a lot of Dallas' collapses in Dec can be directly attributed to this as well. Just my opinion.
A good example of this is they put Williams in motion, than run the ball pretty much every time. How about a play action pass and trying to hit Williams up the seem?
All those jet sweeps and they only passed the ball to Lucky 1 time all year. It is either an inside dive or a jet sweep. How about passing it to Lucky on a screen after faking it to Zeke, or faking it to Lucky and setting up a WR or RB screen on the back side or having Dak fake it to Zeke than roll out, send Williams deep Lucky to the flat and Dez on a crossing route.
Maybe I play too much Madden but I believe in mini schemes where you have multiple plays that are connected to keep defenses guessing.
Norv Turner
As of now, nope. Most coordinators don't sniff the HOF......I forget his name, but the longtime Steelers DC, might get consideration, but even he won't get in. Norv could come back and help us win multiple SBs again, and still not get any closer to the HOF. Besides, he wasn't really an innovator, he merely used Coryell's system and adjusted it slightly to his personnel.Speaking of Norv, there is a fella on the Commander fan forum boards (named TexasCowboy) who thinks Norv will one day be in the Hall of Fame if he never coaches again. He thinks Norv's 2 rings as an OC do the trick in spite of his very lackluster career as a head coach.
I'd love to see a poll on this site to see what you all think about that.
I'd start the poll but don't think I can.
Anybody??
Thanks.

Seifert has Barry Switzer disease. Won the big game with another HC's team.I just noticed George Seifert has 5 rings - 3 as a DC and 2 as a HC. He was 114-62 in the regular season and 10-5 post season as a HC.
He has not even been nominated.
NoPromote Wilson and offer Romo a role of player coach so he can stay in Dallas and still feel useful.
