Lawrence Vickers basically has no future on our team at this point. Williams and Escobar have completely made his place irrelevant in our offense.

I wonder if he even makes the team now.

Cutting Vickers saves 1.2 million dollars this year.

He was a bit of a disappointment last year. Did not have the impact I was anticipating.

Thatis possible but they did bring in his former coach with the idea of getting him back to what he was under said coach.

Lead blocks are important in short yardage situations. You can pull guys off the line and around but a FB with a full head of steam is a different kind of hammer.

I hope he's gone. Still need a blocking tight end.

D.C. Jefferson?

Moose couldn't have blocked well behind that line though. I agree Vickers is probably gone as long as injuries don't mount up in camp.

It seems as though Murray did better without the lead blocker. And he didn't perform very well. When you consider his price, I can't imagine him still being here.

So there you have it, the future of the Cowboys is always have 4 or 5 receivers.

They should probably wait and see if these guys can play first before cutting him. He was dissapointing but had a few 3rd and short receptions last year that really helped. With a better interior line I say he picks up his game.

If they're only going to use a FB for a few snaps per game, then they might as well just train a backup OL to take those snaps. In college, Jesse Williams was very good in that role. He really appeared to understand how to play the position.

I think a guy like Kevin Kowalski would be very good in that role. He is very quick but undersized on the OL. They tried Montrae Holland and Josh Brent in that role in the past; however, it didn't appear that they really understood how to play the position the way that Jesse Williams (DT, Alabama) did in college. Kowalski is quicker than Holland or Josh Brent.

This is true, but the OL needs to open a hole for the FB to run to (to get to his man) so a bad OL hurts a FB's blocking too (Trust me, I know this first hand).

According to a tweet on DallasCowboys.com, Vickers had back surgery yesterday but is expected to be ready for training camp. Assuming he's on the roster by late July.
