I performed a quick search to find what oddsmakers are saying about Dallas' chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2008. The average odds seemed to be about 20 to 1, while there were quite a few that had Dallas at 25 to 1 odds. The Patriots seem to be the odds on favorite at this point to hoist the Lombardi trophy in 2008. If I can get to Vegas and find 25 to 1 odds on the Cowboys winning it, I am putting some dough on the Boys. Hopefully, I'll get there before they change too much.

I think the Cowboys have a great chance to win the NFC. It looks wide open again this year. The good news is that the AFC teams are going to eliminate each other. Once you get to the Super Bowl, anything can happen.

Wouldn't average be 32:1?

This is outrageous. My friend was in Vegas the beginning of last month, so I gave him $20 to put on the Cowboys. The odds at Planet Hollywood were 15/1.

I can understand the Eagles being 18/1, because everyone still thinks McNabb is a top notch QB, but San Francisco is closer to the Super Bowl than Dallas? Apparently we Dallas fans have been smoking the good stuff for too long, and are still living in dreamland.

Odds have NOTHING to do with who Vegas thinks is likely to win the whole thing. They have to do with where the action is going. Before the 93-94 season, the Cowboys were probably considered close to a sure thing to repeat. If people weren't betting on them - and instead kept wagering on the Cardinals to win it all - the Cardinals would have better odds than the Cowboys, even if they were the vastly inferior team.

That said, we're certainly up against it, in terms of winning a super bowl this year, with all the things going against our favor (in terms of historical precedent...) So the odds should probably be worse - only we've probably got a good many people betting on us.

yup, that looks quite a bit more sensible than the one I found.

Different books have different odds. Otherwise there wouldn't be any attraction to one over another.

Relatively long odds for the Cowboys is reasonable. Keep in mind that because we are in such a tough division (really, even games against the worst team in the division are hard to win) that the most likely outcome for any NFC East team that wins the division is that they will not get a bye. That makes it harder to win right there.
