Orakpo on a Melton like deal.
.

We need to sign legit guys who can stay healthy & not players coming off season ending injuries.. We saw how that worked with Melton & Spencer, both couldn't find their game. Melton had 2-3 good games, but that was it & then couldn't finish the season. Pass on Orakpo, guy is turning 29 in July & has missed 24 games the past 3 years.. No thanks

I'm curious about Trent Cole. He can still get to the quarterback. As for Orakpo, people need to understand that the type of injury he has never really heals. I believe this is his third one and he's always going to be at risk of ending up on IR.

Cole has a big number next year at $11MM for the Eagles. They can make a June 1 cut and save over $9MM against their cap.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do. One of Cole or Graham is likely gone. Since their top pick last year, Smith, didn't really do much, they probably have to bring one of Cole or Graham back to play opposite Barwin. It was though Smith would take over the spot opposite Barwin but that doesn't appear likely at this point.

This is not entirely accurate. They moved him to LB because they switched to a 3-4 under Kelly and he wasn't big enough to be a 3-4 DE.

For the right price, I'd take a flier on Graham. I think if anyone is going to be overpaid/overrated it's JPP.

Graham seems like a buy low type guy. He was a sure fire first round talent coming into his draft. Eagles took him and immediately stuck him in that flawed wide 9 system they used that eventually led to Reid finally getting fired. Then Kelly moved him to OLB because he couldn't fit as a 3-4 DE. This year, he was actually pretty productive against the run and pass for really playing out of position.

But again it comes down to price. I'd pay if it was a reasonable deal.

Brandon Graham is known in philly as the guy the Eagles drafted when they should have taken JPP or Earl Thomas.
I understand why he had to switch to LB. I am not as comfortable with the fact that he has been more productive as a Edge rushing LB with a blitz heavy team than he was as a DE considering I am pretty sure we would be signing him as a DE and not a LB.

Maybe for the right price but overall I want our target to be a real DE that can provide a pass rush on his own.

Give me Tyson Alualu as a 3T to rotate with Crawford, Corey Peters (despite the injury history) as a 1T/3T combo, and either Jerry Hughes or JPP as a DE.

Whomever is the best pass rusher that they can afford. Don't know who that is and how much the Cowboys are willing to pony up.

Brandon Graham from the Eagles, he doesnt get much playing time but hes been a very productive pass rusher this season, he has also mentioned he would rather play in a 4-3

This guy always makes plays against the cowboys. He seems strong and gets off blocks . I think he would be a good get

One, no one is questioning that it was a bust pick. Philly totally screwed up that pick.

Two, he tore his ACL at the end of his first season and that made 2011 a total washout. In 2012, he was caught up in that stupid wide nine technique that the Eagles went to. If you look at 2012, sacks across the board were down for the Eagles. Cole had a career 3 sacks, he lowest in years. The Eagles never adapted to the wide nine and it wasn't just Graham who struggled. They all did. 2013 brought in the 3-4 of Kelly and the rest is history.

Look, I don't think anyone is suggesting he's the next ferocious pass rush guy. But when a guy like JPP might get a ridiculous number, a guy like Graham is a very good cheap alternative comparatively. I don't buy entirely into the advanced stats you see now (PFF, Football Outsides, etc) but Graham has been shown in those avanced stats to be a very productive player per down.

So he's absolutely worth looking into and if the price is cheap, it might be a real steal.

Would you rather have JPP at $8 million per year or Graham at $4 million per?
I value the way a freak like JPP can take over a game. I think it makes the offenses account for him. I would rather spend the extra 4 million and know that I am getting a player that has already shown this ability over a player that I am hoping looks like a steal. I could see if age was an issue. But JPP is 25 years old and his best football is in front of him.

I agree but it's no money at risk with a melton like dea . I would rather do that than over pay for a JPP or Hughes. That's just me.

I agree, minus the JPP. He just scares me because he will cost a lot and it is a coin flip if he regains his form or not. Of course I could be wrong on that but I don't like high cost gambles.

He had 5.5 sacks this season, 3 last season and 0 the season before that. He has been so awful that they drafted him as a DE and then moved him to LB because they have been trying to find a spot for him. The eagles have a very blitz heavy defense and Connor Barwin can find a way to get 12.5 sacks and make the pro bowl on that team. The eagles get to the QB a lot...

I'm not saying he will always be garbage. But I won't pretend that he isn't considered one of the eagles biggest draft bust in recent memory either. He was the 12th pick in the 1st round and as you mentioned he hasn't been able to earn his way onto the field.

If Dallas lets 1850 yard Demarco Murray walk so we can pay Daniel Graham to come here as a resurrection project of unfounded potential then I will lose the hope I gained with the cowboys staff.

If we can't pay Murray because we need pass rushers then it needs to be a real pass rusher like JPP or Suh. Not a guy that may not even be good enough to get on the field with the Eagles. That would be the equivalent of the Eagles not signing Shady Mccoy so they could pay Brandon Graham.

Suh is gonna cost a billion dollars, if he turns out to be the next Haynesworth you have caused irreparable cap damage for another five years. You draft a dlineman high and fill your holes with mid tier free agents on short term deals. Graham was pretty darn good with his hand in the ground against the Cowboys and throughout the season and would come at a very reasonable price.

All these guys have some warts otherwise they wouldn't be free agents, you have to take some risk.

Not sure. If I am getting Graham for $4MM per over say 2 years, that might be more attractive to me than paying JPP $8MM or more per year over 4 or 5 years if I have concerns that JPP can really turn back into the terror he was a few years ago.

And are we even sure JPP would come at $8MM per? He might get in excess of $10MM per. He's already on record saying he thinks he's worth elite NFL money.

How are the same guys saying no to some names due to injury history, clamoring for JPP? He will likely get the biggest DE contract this offseason and comes with major injury concerns.

I sincerely hope we stay far, far away from this guy.
