#22 O.T. Ryan Clady
#28 F.S. Kenny Phillips
This is just a hypothetical of course, but what if the top corners are off the board, and our W.R. we had targeted with our #22 pick was goone also, and that means someone else slipped through the crack that was supposed to be drafted earlier, say we don't siign Flozell, what if O.T. Ryan Clady is on the board and all others like the top 4 C.B.'s are gone?
Would anyone be upset with Clady?
He'd be our franchise L.T. for the next decade, I'd be happy with the pick even though it's not the SEXY PICK!
Then say at #28, say Kenny Phillips is still there, we don't have any immediate needs at F.S., do we take him cause he's the best available athlete if we can't trade down at that point?
Cause we'd then come out of round 1 without any C.B.'s which we need and still be without a R.B. and a W.R. we'd need also!
Based on the VALUE we'd get for those picks, I'd say we'd have to make those picks and I'd be very happy coming out of round 1 with
O.T. Ryan Clady
F.S. Kenny Phillips!
We could still grab a R>B. like Ray Rice in round 2 and then grab a guy like C.B. Justin King in round 3, and then maybe trade back into round 3 to grab a W.R. Like Jordy Nelson or a Donnie Avery or Harry douglass!
Here's what we'd come away with then, and actually I'd LOVE this draft if it worked out this way.
We'd add these guys to our offense!
O.T. Ryan Clady
R.B. Ray Rice
W.R. Jordy Nelson
We'd add these guys to our defense!
F.S. Kenny Phillips
C.B. Justin King
Draft works out like this overall!
O.T. Ryan Clady
F.S. Kenny Phillips
R.B. Ray Rice
C.B. Justin King
W.R. jordy Nelson
PLUS round 6 C.B. Jake Ikegwounu let him be on IR for a year and see what he has the following year!
We'd give up our 4th, 5th and 7th this year and a 6th next year to move up into round 3 this year, not sure the math is right onthe trade vlaue chart, but I'm sure I'm close enough since it's a hypothetical anyway and doesn't have to be EXACT!
But I would LOVE for the draft to work out and come away with a haul like that, we'd get our R>B. and W.R. for our offense AND a franchise L.T., plus a solid #3 C>B. with huge upside and fast as lightning along with Kenny Phillips to maybe team with Hamlin after next year for an amazing safety combo!
Just trying to come up with some what ifs and not the cookie cutter drafts!
On a side note, is Malcolm Kelly working out only at his pro day?
If he fell to #22 we should take all of 2 seconds to bring that ticket up.
What would everyone think of this draft though???
I'd give it an AAA+ if it worked out like this!
#28 F.S. Kenny Phillips
