Lift your nose out of the stat book my friend. Defense is a problem.

Stephen and Jerry have both admitted as such.

You're still great, but wrong every now n then. This being one of those times. I'll give a like anyway tho..lol

Defense and Special Teams are lampooning this season. It's a tough situation though, because if you fired Rod mid-season the DL would mutiny.

Dak's not completely off the hook though, he's had some stinkers this season too, especially in the first half.

The offense is the issue when they don’t score in the first quarter.
Along with providing the 12th man on defense in the second half. We need to dominate that 3rd quarter that seems to be the winning formula with this group of talent.

Offensive problems: Persistent and lingering injuries to the OL and coaches' over-reliance upon the running game despite OL injuries.
Defensive problems: DCs reliance upon lightweight DTs, poor pass coverage at deep safety, faulty ball skills of DBs
Special Teams: Poor coaching, player failures to maintain lane security, kick return inadequacies
Overall Coaching: General lack of attention to detail, discipline and accountability

If the offense ever started to sputter the defensive rankings would probably suffer as well. We do a pretty good job on offense of limiting the 3 and outs, sustaining long drives and minimizing turn overs. All of which help the defense to some degree. Generating more turn overs on defense has been lacking forever now. This is definitely one thing that could push the team over the top but given how long it has been I do not expect a sudden change any time soon. That pass reception in the last game for 40 yards was in the air so long I could have picked it from the stands if I had a good seat.

Yep...

Games unfold on us terribly and a lot of that is because we don't come out ready to play and go down.

We're a good front runner but not a good team when we fall behind early.

Our defense has the pieces to be really good but for some reason they are underachieving and that is with a really talented front 7 and 2 solid corners.

It's more like.....the Commanders, Giants, Dolphins, Lions, and Eagles are not the problem.

At least they know how to adjust (most of the time). Defense continues to make the same mistakes down the stretch for the entire 60 minutes.

The slow starts this season has helped us in our 4 losses.

It’s a problem.
Yes, the slow starts place us in a catch up mode and why our offensive stats get blown up as we need to abort running to pass our way back into these games.

Someone posted the w/l record of teams that don’t score in the first quarter - it’s not good.

The fact we struggled against the Packers and Jets in the first is really just embarrassing.

We’ve had a pretty cupcake schedule in terms of the defenses we have faced this season. If we make the playoffs, I think a team like the 49ers will make our offense look stupid.
