I thought this was interesting. We are #1 in the league in offensive pace by a good margin. We are playing fast. We were #2 last year, but #24 in 2018. Leads me to believe this is Moore's influence.

Not drawing any conclusions, just thought it was an interesting observation.

Mostly because we are playing 2 to 4 scores down in the 2nd half and especially in the 4th quarter. And are constantly in a hurry up offense.
I don't think is is by design.

Get and keep a lead, use the running game more and this changes.

They have no choice. There's only so much time you have down by 20 points in the 4th quarter. Gotta speed it up.

That's true to an extent, but they are #1 in a neutral situation & were #2 last year, so it's more than that.

Not true. They were doing it in the first quarter against Cleveland.

Curious to see the splits between games we won and games we lost, or games we had the lead most the game vs games we've been down most of the game.

Might be easier to do the former one though

Stats can be twisted how you like to fit any narrative.
The absolute KEY with our defense is to get an early lead and then milk the clock, get first downs.

Not true. They were doing it in the first quarter against Cleveland.

But does that really count. Many teams play a bit of a hurry up here and there early.
However, they put themselves in the situation where the must do it in the sends half. There is the big difference as to why they lead in this stat.

? Why wouldn't it count? They've been doing it all year. McCarthy has said over and over they want to play with tempo.

You look at it differently.
To me it is still they play from behind. So tempo must be increased more so than it was.
Wait and see when they have a lead, especially a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter. See how it slows down.

Well, wait...we need to see if they can get lead first. :muttley:

Correct, we are no longer trying to milk the play clock down to the final seconds prior to snapping the ball like we've been doing for years, and while being behind will dictate that must happen sometimes, we are also doing it by design.

some of that may have to do with 2 minute offense being run for too much of the game in the 4th quarter. I would be curious to see the same stat for first 3 quarters..

and if its kellen moore, then that's bad. we know the fast pace offense in the NFL doesn't work. its been tried and tried again and every team that did it. failed.
