That's Garretts MOTTO. On offense we are a take what the defense gives us. Even more so with Romo not at the helm.
Seeing the falcons offense and how they get him the ball all over the field. He was in the backfield, in the slot alot on both sides of the field. Man. They are getting their top play-maker the ball. Would love to see that once we get Dez back. Heck we could try some with Terrance Williams (pray he catches the ball).

Garrett and the Joneses said that was going to change starting with the 2014 season. They said several times that offseason that in reviewing the 2013 season that they decided the take what they give you approach might have been a problem.

Callahan talked extensively back then also.

It does appear that with Weeden they have reverted back to that concept.

Dallas, under Garrett's version, was always 'simple', but I don't buy they took what yet defense gave them. He thought his system could work, which is challenge the defense vertically, otherwise go underneath. Teams defended two-deep and Dallas offense could move the ball, but trouble was clear in the red-zone. Either that or Dallas would just bite itself in the foot.

The offense never adjusted, because of the limitations of the OC. Most of the time, Romo would be successful buying time and creating on his own.

That has changed somewhat as they moved away from Garrett as the play-caller. But now they are stuck with the injuries.

There may be a benefit in trying to keep it close with injuries, but you bog your whole offense down as a result to cater specifically to your fears of the back-up QB. You also got to adjust as a coach and keep evolving. And your QB is in the NFL, so you shouldn't be constrained to just sinking and dunking. Let him get some rhythm with the offense in practice.

Only thing different last year was our ability to impose our will on the ground.

Schematically in the passing game we just took what the defense gave us.

I guess it is all in the way you look at it. I would like to see Dallas move players like Dez around a bit more I also think if teams are stacking the line you don't run into the strength of what the defense is doing, they are giving up chances in the passing game they you take what they are giving.

Hell 90's team did that, we ran Emmitt when teams stacked the line we went to the air we did not try to attack them at a strength but at a weakness

yeah if secondary is going to put 2 or 3 guys on Dez and leave Beasley wide open I would rather take that than force throws where they are more likely to be picked. Dang people got after Romo for forcing things and having picks that has not been an issue and Dallas offense around the top in the league last season ranked 7th. Dallas loses a game and people are going bat crud crazy, there is nothing wrong with the offense other than we are missing 2 big keys yet now we need to change it? LOL

I don't think that was true last year. We ran into eight-man fronts on first down simply because we wanted to show we were going to stick with the run. And we force-fed the ball to Dez even when he was covered to give him a chance to use his leaping ability and physical nature to win the battle.

And this team looks more like the pre-2014 8-8 team than the 12-4 team from last year for whatever reason. Even before Romo went out.

I would rather find ways to get the ball into the best player on my teams hands instead of just forfeiting it over to them.

I know scheming a guy into a gameplan like the Falcons did with Julio seems crazy to Cowboy fans but it is possible.

Imagine if we could've just double covered Julio and they would've gave up trying to get him the ball. We probably win by 3 TD's.

Dude we played a game and a half.

Not even a full game with Dez.

Not to mention last year we looked pretty average through the first three games. Wasn't till the New Orleans game where Dallas really established themselves.

How? they ran the ball for 141 and 3 TD Dallas could not commit more to stop Jones when we could not stop the run.

They completed passes on obvious passing downs and ran it on us on obvious running downs.

When Dallas had to do the obvious we got stuffed.

The vast majority of time they had great down and distance situation there were not in long yardage situation very much. freeman killed us, 1st half Dallas had done a good job on Jones but they continued to pound Dallas with the run. Give me a break this crap of Dallas offense and Garrett is so bad, we were 5th in scoring last season and 7th in total offense. This is beyond stupid. We have Romo and Dez out, it is not the fricken scheme it is the damn injuries. I know I am talking to a brick wall you have it out for Garrett fine but it is nothing but none sense.

Because our offensive line couldn't get any push in the second half.

We are predictable doomsday.

Just because Romo, Dez, and the Run game are amazing doesn't mean we are not predictable, vanilla, and can be outcoached.

This arrogant crap that we put up good stats means nothing when you face a quality team that schemes you.

WE almost lost to the frickin Lions in the playoffs last year because of how they schemed us and barely made it out of that alive.

At some point coaches need to coach.

lol dude you're way off. Detroit dominated Dallas at the line of scrimmage until the fourth quarter. Detroit's offense is actually what cost them. After those first two drives the Lions couldn't do anything. They only managed two field goals after the first quarter. Romo had no time in the pocket as Suh really man handled the interior line. Had nothing to do with scheme.
