Some of the starter i did not put because we obviously know their position. some starters and mostly back battles are mentioned.

Joe Milton III (QB, Trade from Patriots)

Minicamp Hype:

Turning heads with freakish athleticism (reportedly did a backflip in pads during warmups).
Displayed a huge arm and mobility, throwing 2 TDs after a red-zone misfire in one practice.
Coaches are praising his work ethic — OC Schottenheimer said, “The sky’s the limit.”

Outlook:

Currently favored to be QB2 behind Dak Prescott.
Will see heavy preseason reps to evaluate consistency and decision-making.
Developmental ceiling is very high — seen as a long-term project with star potential.

Will Grier (QB, Former 3rd-stringer)

Minicamp Status:

Quiet camp so far; no buzz or big moments reported.
Has NFL experience, but hasn’t taken a regular-season snap since 2019.
Seen more as insurance than an active challenger.

Outlook:

On the roster bubble
— if Dallas only keeps 2 QBs, Grier is the likely odd man out.
Best-case scenario: lands on the practice squad as a depth option.

Running Backs

Javonte Williams (#33)
Minicamp Hype: Getting first-team reps and looking fully healthy. Coaches praise his all-around ability.
Outlook: Lead back heading into camp. Expected to start Week 1 if health holds.

Miles Sanders (FA from CAR)
Minicamp Hype: Splitting first-team reps with Williams. Looking explosive and “jacked.”
Coach Quotes: Praised for versatility and experience.
Outlook: Co-starter or top rotational back. Strong camp could make it a 1A/1B situation.

Jaydon Blue (#34, rookie)
Minicamp Hype: Speedy and explosive — standout plays during practice and catching the ball well.
Coach Remarks: Could be the new Tony Pollard-style weapon.
Outlook: Rising fast — likely to make the roster and contribute early.

Phil Mafah (#25, rookie)
Minicamp Hype: Physical runner, but overshadowed by others. No breakout moments yet.
Outlook: Depth RB competing for early-down reps; preseason performance will be key.

Deuce Vaughn (#23)

Outlook: On the roster bubble — needs to prove himself this preseason.

Wide Receivers

Jalen Brooks (#83)
Minicamp Hype: Coaches (McCarthy & Prescott) have praised his camp energy and catching ability. He’s reportedly making a real push for WR3.
Outlook: Trending upward — likely ahead of Jalen Tolbert on the depth chart for now.

Outlook: Rising stock; sleeper to make the 53-man roster and possibly contribute early.

Traeshon Holden (UDFA)
Minicamp Hype: Quiet so far. No major reports or standout plays yet.
Outlook: Camp body for now unless he flashes soon.

Jonathan Mingo (via trade from CAR)
Minicamp Hype: Steady contributor with first-team reps. Coaches love his size and toughness.
Outlook: Legit WR4/5 candidate with potential red-zone value.

Parris Campbell (FA from PHI)
Minicamp Hype: No buzz so far. Veteran depth piece.
Outlook: On the bubble unless he makes a preseason splash.

Kelvin Harmon (Signed from SF)
Minicamp Hype: Minimal media coverage; buried on the depth chart.
Outlook: Longshot to make the team.

KaVontae Turpin (#20)
Minicamp Hype: Dealing with legal issues (arrested July 5). Still expected to play a role.
Coach Remarks: Team still plans to use him creatively on offense and special teams.
Outlook: If cleared to play, will be a gadget WR/returner. Legal status will dictate usage.

Jalen Cropper (#16)
Minicamp Hype: Little to no current buzz from OTAs.
Outlook: Depth receiver; likely competing for practice squad.

Josh Kelly (UDFA)
Minicamp Hype: No updates yet.
Outlook: Deep depth; will need preseason production to stick.

Tight Ends

Jake Ferguson (#87)
Minicamp Hype: Physically stronger and moving better than last year. Coaches call him a “tone-setter.”
Outlook: Locked in as TE1. Needs to bounce back in contract year.

Luke Schoonmaker (#23)
Minicamp Hype: Mixed results. Not bad, but not challenging Ferguson for the starting role yet.
Outlook: Slotted for TE2 unless Spann-Ford overtakes him.

Brevyn Spann-Ford (UDFA)
Minicamp Hype: Surprise standout. Coaches openly say he’s “pushing” Ferguson and Schoonmaker.
Coach Quotes: “Incredible offseason,” mismatch in red zone.
Outlook: Serious contender for TE2; rising fast and could see legit snaps early.

Princeton Fant (#85)
Minicamp Hype: Very quiet camp. No buzz or reports of first-team usage.
Outlook: Longshot to make the roster.

Tyler Neville (UDFA)
Minicamp Hype: No updates; buried on the chart.
Outlook: Camp body at this point.

Left Tackle

Tyler Guyton (#60)
Camp Focus:
After a rocky rookie season, he’s working closely with veteran tackle Tyron Smith to improve his technique and consistency.
Coach Feedback: Coaching staff clearly trusts his upside—training-camp narrative says “Guyton needs to show he’s the LT … but he looks more ready than last year”
Outlook: Still presumed starter—Year 2 is make-or-break to solidify the blindside.

Asim Richards (#23)
Camp Role:
Swing-tackle/backup LT; showed sound play when filling in last season.
Coach Feedback: Versatile, reliable depth; will get looks at both tackle and guard in camp .
Outlook: Likely key backup, can be rotational OL depth—needs standout preseason to push forward.

Hakeem Adeniji (ex‑CLE, UFA)
Camp Role:
Veteran addition for depth at tackle.
Background: Former Bengals starter; earned All‑Big 12 honors at Kansas
Outlook: Depth candidate and insurance policy—solid practice squad or backup swing tackle.

Left Guard

Tyler Smith (#73)
Camp Vibe:
One of the strongest and most reliable units—Smith continues to be a key run-game force, praised by both coaches and PFF .
Outlook: Locked-in starter and core member of the “Great Wall of Tylers.”

Rob Jones (ex‑MIA, UFA)
Camp Role:
Depth guard, former Dolphins starter.
Outlook: Likely backup; rotation player depending on camp performance.

Saahdiq Charles (ex‑WSH/CLE)
Camp Role:
Depth interior line; brings starting experience.
Background: Four-year starter at LSU, signed to Cowboys in April SIYouTube+11Wikipedia+11Dallas Cowboys+11.

Center

Cooper Beebe (#56)
Camp Role:
Projected starting center, following strong rookie campaign.
Coach Feedback: Early positives, working with Kansas State’s former coach again to grow .
Outlook: In the mix to start; strong camp could cement role.

Camp Role:
Lower-depth camp body—minimal attention.
Outlook: Practice squad candidate unless he shows major spark.

Right Tackle

Terence Steele (#78)
Camp Vibe:
Known as a physical run-blocker, though his pass protection is under review.
Coach Feedback: Cowboys hope for a more consistent season after uneven 2024 grades
Outlook: Set to open as RT starter; must balance his run/pass splitting to avoid risking his spot—cap hit drops significantly after this year

Ajani Cornelius (#69, Rook)
Camp Role:
Sixth-round rookie tackle with size and upside.
Player Note: Seen as a “least talked-about” yet high-upside DL draftee who could push for swing role
Outlook: Developing rapidly—could surprise and earn a spot with preseason production.

Matt Waletzko (ex‑2022 pick)
Camp Role:
Inactive backup RT; has lingered on bubble for seasons.
Outlook: Make-or-break camp; preseason play could decide roster fate .

Nice right up, Flournoy isn't a rookie, will probably most likely be on the practice squad and stolen by washington lol
I like that brooks and flournoy are challenging both Tolbert and Mingo. I am not as high a fan of either. Honestly I'd want Turpin as 3 because of the 1 on 1 mismatch opportunities, since lamb and Pickens will get most of the attention from the defense.

Irvin was just talking about this.

Sounds good to me, I hope we utilize that speed that he has as our 3rd WR and not just send him on silly routes/jet sweeps. I like Brooks but i'm not sold on him making the team this year

Coach Remarks: Featured in “Next Man Up” series, showing team still believes in him.
Outlook: On the roster bubble — needs to prove himself this preseason.
Good analysis in the OP.

Looking at RB, if Williams and Sanders both make the final 53, I wonder if Luepke gets cut to make room for Mafah? Vaughn is gone obviously, and Dallas isn't keeping 5 at the position. I always liked Luepke, but I think Mafah brings more to the table. I've been expecting either Williams or Sanders to get cut, but if Dallas keeps both things get interesting.

I think brooks could be part of a heavy rotation at 3 and 4. As much as I want Turpin at 3 mostly, I know the coaches won't do that. I believe 3 will be by committee with no clear 3rd. There is no way Tolbert or Mingo are holding down the 3rd spot permanently for the season.

Imo the cowboys will already leave alot of money on the table this season by limiting Turpin.

The lesser speed guys will get those snaps

Very informative, thank you.

I hope to hear more on Mafah during training camp, particularly in the preseason games.

Luepke should be just fine. decent plans for him. i forgot to post his update

Hunter Luepke (FB/RB/TE hybrid)

  • Versatility standout: Rotating through fullback, running back, tight end, and special teams spots this offseason—coaches love his positional flexibility.
  • Coach praise: HC Schottenheimer said, “it’s too early to tell… but he’s playing FB, RB, TE and all he does is everything well.”
  • Damaged utility: Could dethrone a traditional RB thanks to his blocking, receiving, and occasional RB duties.
  • Roster status: Projects as one of five running backs kept in 2025; in a contract year, his roster spot may hinge on camp/preseason output.
  • Previous production: In 2023–24, he posted 12 carries for 38 yards and 12 receptions for 111 yards—enough to trigger serious consideration in a crowded backfield.

Minicamp Status:

There are actual posters who think he's a lock to beat Milton for the backup job behind Dak.... :banghead:

So if Jalen Brooks is ahead of Tolbert and Mingo id 4 or 5? You have Tolbert the 4th or 5th receiver?
maybe so if camp statuses hold up. i still say it will be a heavy rotation there. tolbert will definitely be in the starting rotation. brooks had a good start to preseason last year before fading. if he is consistent this preseason, he could take the 3rd spot and rotate with turpin. brooks is already on the coaches radar so he has that going for him.

Did not realize he was that high in their favor……good for Brooks.

yeah i dont see that happening. grier would have to have one hell of a preseason in order to take the backup spot. milton is also projected to get alot of preseason action, which means the coaches really want to see milton their investment at work. i believe they already know what greir ceiling is, and they are looking for more than what they already know about grier

Thanks for Sharing ...

Quarterbacks:
- Now we'll get a glimpse between Joe Milton .. vs what we saw in Trey Lance last 2 years ...does Milton have QB pedigree in him ,
or just another great physical tool athlete ?
Does Milton have the coaching staff and personnel support to better help him succeed ?

I'd give Milton 85- 90% of the preseason bulk - one series for Dak ( if that) remaining 10% for Wil Grier-who is destined for practice squad emergency

Running Backs
- of course J. Willians is gonna look healthy in shorts & tshirts in minnicamp. what about pads per reg season vs opposing defenses ?
i gotta a feeling thats when we'll see results

- Sanders ? hope this club gets it right with film study of Sanders/Carolina.. he was clearly outshined by Hubbard, and was there a reason why Philly let him walk ?
(they also let RB Swift walk too, right ?)
Obviously this club thinks Sanders has some Philly prime still in him.

- Blue is one of the fastest RBs in this year's draft. Speed is his game in both run & pass.. if schemed well, maybe he could have James Cook, (Bills) Kamara (saints) ,
even Gibbs (Detroit) like results but he may also be more of a change of pace type situational

- I dunno what Mafah brings in terms of run skills, he's a bowling ball str8 ahead, when there's a major hole & opening made for him .. is he creative otherwise ?

- anyone notice that FB Lupeke is never mentioned much ? Not a true FB, he's more of a big RB than a lead block guy. He can catch well, but is he a true option at goal lines/short yardage ?

- Deuce will have another great outing flashes in preseason, .. but what does he offer at special teams ..and is he a weapon in pass game ?
Oft-compared to RB Sproles, i don't see the sheer long speed burst and pass catching skills - and definitely zero special teams return skills as the diminutive Sproles.
i'm afraid he is too limited to make the 53 roster.

I think leupke has less use and less upside.
Most probably mafah makes the team and be inactive.
Vaughn is gone unless Jerry demands to keep him.
