You don’t even sniff Belichick unless he picks his own staff.
I‘m no genius, but I know that he doesn’t coach a team that doesn’t run the ball and stop the run.
We are used to teams where the OC runs the offense with autonomy, as does the DC.
With Belichick, those guys answer to him and run the offense and defense that he wants.

I would imagine scheme had alot to do with how bad the secondary looked, them playing man all year then mysteriously playing zone for the biggest game of the season.
