Offensive Creativity

Sure, but I think the Saints was more about being aggressive/conservative, rather than creative. That's a fine line though lol.
lol sure thing. another member posted a clip of a bubble screen play we ran against the Vikings, we just didn't execute correctly. It's at the top of this thread, it definitely looked like Money!!

We have all the plays we need. We just have to choose to use them, and at the right times.

Jet sweeps. Read options. RPOs. Play action.

And stop running the plays that don't work at the times they don't work. Limit Zeke's runs on first down. Don't throw to Witten in man coverage. Don't have Zeke running WR routes in obvious passing situations.

We kept running on first downs while passing on first downs always worked.

Yea, I posted it lol.

The last two runs last game were the antithesis of non creativity and had Garrett’s prints all over them.

I find it nearly impossible to believe anyone else could have such poor judgment and feel for the game.

I wouldn't call the wildcat "creative," but they do run gadget plays. They just tried a reverse pass with Cobb and Austin's TD run was pretty gadgety.

I do think they should run a lot more screens, but that's been true for a decade. As for the bubble screens, yea:

The pass would’ve been ideal. I’d settle for Dak trying to make the end miss rather than Zeke running into 5+ defenders.

At miss st. He killed SEC teams running.

:clap::clap:this is me agreeing while taking a shot at coach clap

He's a hell of running QB..remember that 3rd and long in the playoffs against the Seahawks! Man...he even picked up a QB sneak against the Eagles this year, needed one yard and got about 10. Could've used that against the Rams last year in the Playoffs on 4th and 1. Or a bootleg. That's another play I want to see with this predicable offense. Running more bootlegs on short down yardage. It's almost automatic with the threat of Zeke in the backfield, and the mobility of Dak..Dak can run or dup it off for a short gain.

The offense is very predicable at the moment. How do you feel about Dak running more bootlegs? (my above comment)

See this is where we don't really know the playcall - unless Dak screwed up the read multiple times, there's no way this should have ever been given to Zeke.

The motion should pull the field-side LB. After that, your options should be

1. If the LB doesn't go with the motion, throw the bubble.
2. If the LB stays home, hand to Zeke.
3. If the LB comes down, QB keep around the edge.

Based on what the LB did, initially, that's an easy read to throw the bubble. Since they never actually throw that pass, and the reads never would have called for a Zeke run there, I don't think that play's an option, and it's a crappy call.

Great break down. It's just another example of lack of execution.

Well, it depends on the playcall lol. It's poor execution if the bubble pass was ever actually an option.

I'm guessing it wasn't, but we'll never know the answer to that.

Wasn't there a play in the Vikings game where Cobb actually threw the ball? That's pretty creative. We have like one creative play a game, and after we play it, Garrett likely tells Moore to cut it out. "You got your creative flea-flicker like play, kid. Now run the ball and do what I said."
Like I said, it all rides down to Garrett, He gets the final say so in all calls. Moore would likely be more successful and creative on a team with a HC that actually wants to keep his job.
You don't build game plans off trick plays, so it doesn't make sense to criticize them for not using them throughout the game. The biggest focus has to be on execution without mistakes. We have the top yardage offense in the NFL, and the 6th scoring offense, so lets no act as if the offense has been ineffective. What has held them back from being even more effective has been penalties and turnovers, not lack of gadget plays. Reduce those kinds of mistakes, and the offense is fine.

Both deserve blame.

We also have to remember the slow starts this team has had which has come back and bit us in the arse. Penalties and Turnovers are an issue but they don't happen every drive. Maybe a little creativity will prevent some of those slow stars, as well executing the game plan.

Yes. Boots and roll outs all day long.

He's much more comfortable running from the rush instead of being surrounded by it in the pocket, and he's often been freakishly good at throwing on the move.

Fake hand off to Zeke, with bootleg/rollout with RPO should be a staple, particularly in the red zone. Get him moving counter to a possible handoff, then encouraging the option for him to take it upfield as he sees fit.

The base offense should revolve around Dak having run and pass options based on reads, and one of those options should be Dak running.

I hate how our coaches hold the players back.

Couldn't have said it better.
