We also have to remember the slow starts this team has had which has come back and bit us in the arse. Penalties and Turnovers are an issue but they don't happen every drive. Maybe a little creativity will prevent some of those slow stars, as well executing the game plan.

I'm not saying there should be no creativity, but lets not act as if it is a game plan staple to use gadget plays. I really think a large part of the slow starts has been things like penalties and turnovers. Penalties have put us in some long yardage situations.

He's much more comfortable running from the rush instead of being surrounded by it in the pocket, and he's often been freakishly good at throwing on the move.

Fake hand off to Zeke, with bootleg/rollout with RPO should be a staple, particularly in the red zone. Get him moving counter to a possible handoff, then encouraging the option for him to take it upfield as he sees fit.

The base offense should revolve around Dak having run and pass options based on reads, and one of those options should be Dak running.

Spot on. SPOT ON! That's why I'm failing to understand why they are forcing him to become a pocket passer. That's just not him. They're forcing him to be a Brady instead of a Wilson. They need to play him like he's Russell Wilson (the closest QB to how Dak plays). Let him throw on the run. Let him scramble and run bootlegs. Why are they holding him back like this!?

This is a fair question, although at least with regard to the slow starts the offense has to shoulder some blame as well. But overall the offense has been pretty strong. I think fans get caught up in something like how poorly the running game was this past week, and although I'm not going to saying it isn't bothersome, we also have to put it in perspective. Every year there are individual games where the run game or pass game (or offense in general) has a poor showing, but that doesn't make it a pattern. The defense, however, is showing a pattern of not being able to stop opponents run games, so that has to be a more tangible concern.

I remember Garrett doing the same to Romo. Teams used to scheme to keep him in the pocket. So Garrett did it for them. He's just the worst.

The predictable 1st down runs are a Garrett mainstay, but we've clearly added some more creative passing concepts into the mix. For example, did you ever see Randall Cobb's slot wheel up the sideline from a Linehan offense? And the Cooper "dagger" deep-in is becoming almost a signature move.

I'd still like to see more alternatives to 1st down running in there - throw a flat route or a hitch to Zeke on first instead of handing it off, or flip a bubble screen to the edge when they start cheating down too hard on the dive runs. But all in all, this offense is miles better than the high school playbook we ran last year.

I wouldn't call the wildcat "creative," but they do run gadget plays. They just tried a reverse pass with Cobb and Austin's TD run was pretty gadgety.

I do think they should run a lot more screens, but that's been true for a decade. As for the bubble screens, yea:

I don't know why they don't run a bubble screen from a bunch set to Cobb. He's a good open field runner and unlike Austin , he wouldn't tip the defense.
