I remember trying to sell us going linebacker in the 1st last season instead of DE. Everyone shot me down said linebacker was not a need. My oh my, what a year does for ya.. Coulda had one knocked out already. That's my same ol sad story every year though...lol

Gets awfully agitating

I think starting with a guard generally leads to the best outcome as far as mocks go. There's some good safeties DT's and LB's in that 2nd-4th round range but I really don't like the guards after the 1st round.

Can't say I love it. But also can't say its bad or unrealistic.

Not crazy about the first three but after that looks like good players for pick position and fit positions of need.

Truth is.. We need all new linebackers

So actually pretty on point

Not a one taken before Round 4.

I wouldn't expect to find our new starting LB crew from a group of LBs taken in the bottom half of the draft.

Since you're an eagles fan I'm pretty sure you were knocked out several times last year

It is not a good idea to drink and post here. This is not an eagles forum

I like the first 2 picks (Will Hernandez and Harrison Phillips). Although, I would prefer a trade down 4 or 5 spots and then draft a guard. Daniels, Hernandez, or Wynn should still be there. I don't like the Marcus Allen pick. He is an "in the box" safety that lacks coverage skills. He only had 1 interception in his 4 year college career. He is great in run support but in my opinion we already have that in Kavon Frazier. We need a safety that can cover. I don't like Dante Pettis in the 4th round because I don't think WR is needed (unless we cut Dez). If we cut Dez then we need to choose a WR before the 4th round. I would be looking at a RB in the 4th round. IMO. we have Zeke and 2 scrubs on the roster at RB. Yes, I am not buying the hype on Rod Smith. I like the rest of your picks, especially Josey Jewell, but I think you may have drafted 1 LBer too many.

While I rather go elsewhere in round 1, I can't complain about that draft overall.

Ok, but who's your starting left guard as of today?

Can't put these many resources into 1 area
These players will need to be paid
Only way I do this is if we're trading Martin because he will get 15 mill/year
Gotta build a team not just OL
Draft someone lower or find in FA and coach them

Just my .02

I am going to answer this even though I agree and understand your thinking.

Starting today -- Martin, Looney, Fleming get first shot at it. Collins to there and Fleming to RT if not.

With that said; Ragnow, Price, Daniels, Wynn, Hernandez, Smith all might be good enough to start there, and could be available somewhere in the process but not necessarily 1st round.

IMO, finding a really good C who is smart and is stout enough to play LG would be wonderful.

And your .02 is always welcomed.

I'll give you my own thought process behind this:
  • This team has a gaping hole at left guard and this could undermine the group that they rely on as their biggest strength.
  • At pick #19, if they drafted a guard there, the money isn't huge.
  • By the time they'd have to give the rookie his big deal, it's 6 years down the road. By that time, Smith or Fredrick are either being paid less or gone, so that money can be reallocated.
  • If the team takes a guard in round one, that guy is starting immediately immediate return on investment And that will be a guy that will be playing every offensive snap. Teams will have to deal with him. I don't think that there's another position that would be certain to play as much.

Right. And if the team is forced to move Collins there because the others can't handle it, then you hope that Fleming is good enough to be your right tackle without a falloff. Even bigger, you hope that nobody gets hurt, because you then have no swing tackle and no reliable depth.

With that said; Ragnow, Price, Daniels, Wynn, Hernandez, Smith all might be good enough to start there, and could be available somewhere in the process but not necessarily 1st round.

They all might possibly start there, but they wouldn't all be as good or give the same level of performance. There's a reason why some guys are ranked ahead of others.
