Offensive Line appreciation thread

doh…….…..when or where did I say colombo wasn't the o-line coach. and our blocking schemes clearly changed when alexander came here. some of the o-line guys were complaining about it. good to see we could be neighbors.
It’s pretty clear you don’t understand run blocking schemes. You’re one of those fans who think when something works it’s one scheme and when it doesn’t it something completely different. Good luck to you man.

And as far as Alexander goes the change was in technique not scheme.

It was more hand positioning that the vets didn't buy into. Didn't help either Williams had to learn two trains of hand work in one year in that regard.

Elucidate. What was the difference today and the last 3 weeks? I really want to know.

Figure it out yourself. I don’t have the time to educate you tonight. The fundamental scheme has not changed though.

For you to figure it out yourself? Sure. Tomorrow would be great. I’m not counting on it though.
I already figured it out. It's you that hasn't. Football isn't really that complicated.

the way we blocked when frank pollack coached the o-line. not the way we've blocked under alexander and then columbo. the way we blocked today will be just fine from now on.
Pollack ran a zone scheme which he learned as a Callahan decipl, as does Colombo... Alexander ran a man scheme. It was a disaster and was a abandoned after 6 or so games last year!

Good info. I wish we'd never have let pollack go. Thanks.

There's actually a pretty good article on the ol coaches and schemes the last couple of years floating around. Apparently Pollack and Linehan didn't get along and Linehan repeatedly went to Garrett and or Jerry on numerous occasions and always sided with Linehan and Pollack decided to leave when his contract was up. He's with the jets now and Callahan will most likely be fired after the season. I wouldn't mind seeing either come back!

So you want me to explain the difference between zone and man to you and then you tell me I haven’t figured it out and you have?

Okay pal. Again I’m not wasting my time any further. Good luck to you.

Callahan had the skins playing pretty well today. But meyer looked very comfortable with allen in the suite. He left here with a bad taste in his mouth.

You said you didn't have time to educate me in a snarky, insulting tone. However 2 other posters have explained it well. You needn't trouble yourself further.

It really looked to me as if the were blocking according to a different philosophy. Did we cut out the constant stunting and let them just plow the field for a change?

Xavier and Martin played door bouncer inside. Go watch...they wouldn’t be pushed around like last time. Interior is the ones doing the pushing this time. Xavier changes their whole physical attitude.
