Offensive Line is still a major problem...

I think we have a good start with Tyron Smith but we need more talent and youth on the Offensive Line. We also have to make a change at OL Coach. It's simply time for Hudson Houck to retire. Hes too old and we need a young hungry Offensive Line Coach. If we stay with Houck it will never improve. I have been watching closely at how long Romo has to get rid of the ball and it's not very long. I also do believe Romo plays intimidated and lacks confidence which doesn't help the situation. Between Garrett's playcalling, Romo's inabilities and the Offensive Line we are headed backwards.

Sorry just read a similar Post which I really wouldn't mind seeing Sparano as OL Coach next season with Houch leaving !!!

The offensive line has been what has held this team back since 2004. 2007 they played well. It's the weakness of this team, and has been for a long time.

Romo in his prime made our bad OL look better. They've always been bad and now Romo is unable to make up the difference.

The OL is the reason this team will not go anywhere this year. We've got a great one in the making with Smith, and Free would be good at RT next year with an experienced G next to him. Main thing we need is a center. Get that in the draft and I believe we're set.

Also, I don't remember our OL being that great with Sparano. In fact, I remember alot of complaining while he was here. I don't think he's the answer. We need fresh blood in here.

Jerry got lucky in the 90s with an OL that was made up of mostly 3rd round and lower picks. He thinks he can do that again but the reality is that he just got lucky with that group and can't repeat the performance.

I really wish he had signed another premium interior OL in the offseason. I don't think he expected the team to be so good defensively so he thought of this year as a rebuilding year and decided to take the dead money hit and cut vets this year to set us up for the future. The problem is that Ware and Romo are stars now and he hasn't built a good enough team around them to compete for a championship.

I don't think Jerry can put together a good balanced roster and run the draft with the anticipation of our future needs. He is a major embarassment and makes our coaches look far worse than they actually are.

I would advise Ryan to get Carter on the nickel defense now and live with his mistakes as he learns the position so he'll be better next year. I would also suggest that we sub out Costa and put in Kowalski as Costa cannot snap the ball well enough to be a Center. The Eagles will beat us again and the Giants will beat us twice so that is 7 losses already and puts us out of contention. We need to make some longer term decisions now because we aren't going to win anything this year. The OL is just not good enough.

Next year bring in a GM and an OC, invest heavily in the interior OL through draft and FA and take a run at it again.

Some people think that Hudson Houck developed the great OL that the Cowboys had in the Super Bowl years; however, he didn't come to the Cowboys until Jimmy's last year. The guy that developed the great OL was Tony Wise. I've always wished that Jerry would re-hire Wise.

I have been saying this for years.
Both lines needs to be improved. You have to win the trenches. OL needs young power raod graders that are light footed. I want a OL with a killer instinct.
Also the same on the DL. Ratliff is not a great NT. Very good one but not close to great. He doesn;t get doubled on every play and when he does get doubled he is moved easily. We need big mean road gradding DL. DL that can push through a OL, that can clog lanes and demand double teams not just on one play but the entire line.
We need a Wilfork, Hampton, Kyle Williams type NT.
We need a Ngata, Campbell, Justin Smith type 3-4 DE.

Agree. Defensive line is just as inept as the OLine.

They got ZERO push last night and have been JAGs (except for Rat) for a while.

Linemen dont sell jerseys or look good on marketing material. Jerry puts together nice talent but he has completely ignored the offensive line for a long time now. The interior of our offense and defense is soft on both sides of the ball. James and Brooking are not physical or athletic enough and neither are our center or guards.

After last night, I'm all for Houck being our D-coord next year.

Wasn't it last year or the year before that Green Bay had a historically bad offensive line early in the year? As they played together, they got better and better and now they're one of the best.

Yeah we do. I hear people say Big Ben has it so tough because he has one the worst offensive line in football, but is Romo's line any better? No they're arguably worse. Obviously Tyron is a stud, but everybody else is either old or just not very good.

The OL blows. But what really makes this sad is that Just last week Jerry Jones said how he's surprised ohw the OL tuend out - better than he ever could have expected and planned for - with the aquisitins of Holland and Dockery. Wow! Talk about setting your OL sights so low.
