Offensive line needs to show improvement

This line is already really good in the running game, but they need to especially improve in pass protection.

Frederick will be enter year 4, Martin year 3, Collins year 2.

This was one of the major reasons why I wanted to replace Doug Free last year. I would like to have the line set and playing together for years. Every snap they play together the better they will be in the long run. We've got stud linemen across the board except at RT. Hopefully that player can be Green and we won't need to keep investing more resources into the line.

They had bad circumstances this year with injuries to skill players, but they still need to show vast improvement next year to warrant the expense they will bare going forward.

Travis Frederick will be a free agent after next year and he is going to cost us anywhere from 8 to 11 million a year. Fortunate for us, 2017 should be a pretty easy year for us in terms of re-signing our own players as Frederick is basically the only player worth re-signing that year.

The line is really good at run protection, but they definitely aren't the best pass blocking line in the NFL.

Anyone who thinks that didn't pay attention this season or even the previous season.

Pretty sure they allowed the fewest pressures in the NFL by a pretty significant margin.

Funny thing. Every time someone brings up anything on the offense, I feel it can be linked back to the vanilla scheme we run. RB, WR,OL....

That's certainly a factor.

I think these are our problems ranked for most important to least.

1. Lack of speed (this is biggest)
2. Scheme
3. Lack of impact WR2
4. Lack of impact RB
5. Inconsistent pass protection

No, you aren't paying attention.

They have the lowest amount of hurries given up this year and in a scheme where the QB holds onto the ball longer than most of the schemes out there. And they did it without Dez, so we didn't have our best WR to beat blitzes. And Witten had probably his 2nd worst year blocking of his career due to injuries.

The only thing the O-Line has to do is stay healthy and find an eventual replacement and naturally progress like they should (which isn't needed, but you always like to see a natural progression). It is by far the best O-Line in the league and there's nobody else than can touch it at this point in time.

You sound drunk. Again, they were 23rd in the NFL in passing attempts, adjusted their sack percentage is pretty high. QBs relied heavily on the checkdown this year as well.

If you're looking for a weak link on the team, the O-line ain't it. Maybe you'll come up with something compelling in the next 76 new threads that you'll post over the next 24 hours but this one, my friend, is a dud.

They had the lowest rate of QB hurries allowed. Matt Cassel was horrendous in playing against the blitz and Moore struggles to feel where the rush is coming from. Even last season with Romo, by the 2nd half of the season Romo was holding onto the ball all day trying to get the biggest play possible.

It is, without question, the best O-Line in the NFL at this point and should not be a problem next year or for the next few years. Our DB play, QB play and MIKE play is a far different story.

So Dallas needs to show improvement eventhough 2014,2015 they were rated the #1 OL in the nfl.

I'd blame our scheme and the WR's before I blamed our O-Line...

I have to agree with YakuzaRich about the holding the ball too long issue. The offensive scheme is the single biggest problem with this team on either side of the ball. Unfortunately, everyone is going to hang their hat on 2014, when that was clearly the exception, not the rule. This team has very good talent at every skill position, particularly on offense and shouldn't be as consistently inconsistent as they are.

While every aspect of every team should be looking to improve every year, a thread calling out the offensive line is like chasing air.
