There is one thing that can spell doom for this offense and this team and this offense is this team.
We've been talking about the 8 man front as if that's a bad thing but with this team, that is exactly what we want. That one thing that can doom us is stopping the run game with the straight up 7 in the box. We need that edge with the best part of the team, the receivers.
Norv Turner made his name using that to his advantage because he had a balanced offense and the DC's knew he preferred to run the ball. One huge advantage he had was a great RB and OL so he could still run at those stacked boxes to keep them honest. McC and Moore have the RB but not the OL but they should still try and force the run as Turner did. They need to make the other team play their game for a change.
They should also mix it up with run and pass on 1st downs to stay out of the 3rd a longs when they can pin their ears back and come at our last hope QB.
Ok, this is supposed to be a QB guru kind of HC and the OC is the next wunderkind, time to show that other than playing catch up football and play with strategy and not rely on tactics too soon in the game. The strategy has been when to move to tactics.
This is an experienced QB with a HC experienced with bailing wire OL's, no excuse not to baffle them with strategy with the firepower this offense has.
This coaching staff has allowed the other team to dictate to them, this offense is too good and well balanced for that but it takes strict adherence to strategy as long as they can and not bail out so quickly.
Make them pull that 8th man in and rely on the strength of the team, the QB and receivers. One thing about the QB, he's never had a WR corps like this before and the best way to use the weapons is to get them to try and stop the run.
