Don’t get me wrong, I truly feel that RR will be a great HC in this league. I know he would be a great HC for the Cowboys. But the events of this week, have made consider the timing of bringing him in.

With the hire of Jason G. I just don’t think this is the time for Rivera to be the HC. I am worried about there being a trust issue within the coaching staff. I am sure it is pretty evident that Jerry brought Jason in to be the future HC. Can Rivera have complete trust in a guy that is wanting his job, and has already been given the thumbs up from the owner?

If there is a debate over a player in the draft for example, does Jerry listen to both sides without bias or does he go with his “chosen one” And even if Jerry does listen without bias, would RR ever believe that?

No, as much as I like RR, I don’t think this is the coaching staff we need. So therefore, I am off his bandwagon for HC.

I think the smartest move right now, would be to bring in Wade Phillips as HC. He seems like a perfect fit right now. A much respected Defensive guy that I think could do wonders for this defense. I also think that Jones respects him and would at least give him a second listen to over any debates regarding personal.

Now, I would not be against bringing in RR as the DC. I have said in other threads why I think RR would jump at the chance to be the DC here, given that Phillips is the HC. I would also not be against promoting Bowles to the DC spot either. This would give Dallas two young, up and coming coordinators on the staff.

So, I am officially off the Rivera bandwagon and on the Phillips Bandwagon.

In other words, let's not hire the best man for the job and just hope the OC is ready to be a coach in two years then everything will be great. Sounds like a great way to run a billion dollar franchise.

In other words, Rivera would've been a great candidate, but Jerry has already screwed it up by hiring assistants first.

He is a very good owner, perhaps the best in the league. Nobody markets his brand better.

Now, as a general manager, that is a completely different story.

i don't think if it was just an Asst, it would be a problem. The problem is, this particular asst has already been named HC in waiting.. according to reports, which I am sure, everyone has read, including Rex Ryan and Ron Rivera.

Now,, Jerry is the best salesman on the planet,, he might can convience Rex or Ron that those reports were just media people, being media people..and it might work.

Don't give up hope on Rivera, maybe the reason we don't have a HC is because Jerry is waiting on him, long shot I know, but you gotta have hope, cause I really want Rivera too.

Who knows maybe Jerry got JG ok'd with Rivera. In the mean time maybe he's interviewing others to stay in the lime light. A bit of a conspiracy theory I guess, but hopefully possible.

I didn't make the decision to hire JG. Jerry did. I personally would not have done it this way.. I would have went after RR Monday afternoon when BP said he was stepping down.

That makes two nights in a row from two different people that the same thing has been said to you.

That's just it. I don't see us hiring a potential longterm answer at HC when we apparently just hired an on-the-job trainee.

I was thinking that the longer this plays out that maybe Rivera, or even Lovie is the real target. But with all this Garrett talk, I don't see why they'd come here.

More than likely we're just going to get a Turner or Phillips to keep the seat warm while Garrett trains.

Why would Smith leave a SB team? Chicago is going to pay him. They gave him his shot and he proved he can do the job. Inspite of Grossman.

Well, if you assume that Chicago is going to pay him, there's no reason to think he'd leave. It's not set in stone that they're going to pay what he's worth, however.

They haven't even sniffed a SB since eighty five. They are going to pay him.

True, but they're astonishingly cheap. He's the lowest paid coach and in the end they probably won't offer him much more than the highest paid coordinators in the league.
