He's a two-time Purple Heart awardee.
My uncle Mike doesn't talk about Viet Nam either. The only clue I have to his time there is a poem he wrote when he got back. I memorized it because it was so haunting.casmith07;3756004 said:He's still alive. I've gotten him to open up about Vietnam only twice. He hasn't seen this video but he does know that it exists. My dad, however has told me many stories and will share to those whom inquire (or care). He still carries a large burden of what happened back then and will never forget how he was treated when he returned.
Some of the stories are very interesting though. He was a tank commander for the Big Red 1.
casmith, glad to see you found something this special for you and the family.
These are the real heroes.
