***Official Day THREE draft thread***

I would have gone with Michael Bennett there. Wilson was a productive player, and was Minnesota's defensive player of the year. The team must really be high on Chris Whaley.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Productive, volume tackler over his two years as a Gopher 'backer. Stays committed to the chase when ball spills wide. Shows a feel for blocks coming at him from an angle. Lines up the defense. Drops into zone coverage and spies the quarterback, mirroring the quarterback's eyes and cutting off the passing lane.
WEAKNESSES
Production and level of play fell off over his final four games against better competition, including Ohio State and Wisconsin. Allows himself to be cut-blocked on the second level. Lacks natural instincts from inside the box. Over-runs his run fit and can be easily pinned. Vacated his run responsibility, leading to long TDs from Ohio State's J.T. Barrett and Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon. Too often waits for blockers rather than beating them to the spot.
BOTTOM LINE
Fills the stat sheet, but is missing traits associated with becoming a starting linebacker in the NFL. He is an average athlete with average speed and loses leverage in his run responsibilities. He's a willing chaser and he's around the action, so a move to the WILL outside 'backer spot might make the most sense in order to limit his liability against downhill rushing attacks.

how many LBs did we sign this offseason? like 3, in addition to Lee, Hitchens, and Rolando?

We signed Brinkley and lost Carter/Durant. We need LBs with Lee and Rolando being ? marks.

anyone else not worried about RB? Hey, I might regret this later but I am not worried by their apparent approach to RB. Bring in a guy not drafted to add to the mix, and lets see which ones make it. Late in camp, see who else is cut to see if you can upgrade the # 3 guy.

Lee, McClain, Hitch, Wilber, Rivers, Gachkar, Brinkley, Wilson, Lawrence.

Yet we are going with Darren McFadden as our starting RB?

I personally think we're being stupid in believing this line can make any back shine. It would be different if Murray was some scrub who had not averaged more than 4.0 per carry the previous three seasons.

We're trusting a bunch of guys with warts because of that line and I believe it's a foolish strategy. That doesn't mean it won't work out; I just don't think it's wise.
