***Official Day THREE draft thread***

As much as the cowboys may have disappointed some for not picking players that was on their mock draft board, you don't know a player until he performs. The only thing that disappoints me is not picking a rb prospect early, but I had an inkling that they liked their running backs.

Thinking a solid return specialist, DT or speed receiver project with our last two.

It sure will be interesting to hear/read after the draft (if we can get an honest answer)
1) Why no DT when there have been plenty when we picked in later rounds - What is wrong with Bennett ?
2) Why no punt/kick-off returner Who now fills that void ?
3) RB - not worth a 7th, so going with what they have. After how Murray changed how the Cowboys played last year i.e. BALANCED ! Seems like a huge risk the are taking.
4) Like the depth we have built, heavy on defence.
And just a statement of sorts - I think we all agree that the front office deserves the benefit of the doubt lately, so I will not bag on any of the picks they have made. First 2 days were very good, have kinda felt - bleh - today, but I do have trust. I just hope that the risks we are taking this year, Gregory, no RB, no DT to help the interior is not a sign of their arrogance/complacency of yester year.
Jerry going back to his wildcatter days. Just that small amount of nagging doubt.

Would you say the front office doesn't think much of Murray and think it was all the OL.

doesnt matter what they think and its a heavy risk, if no one else can run behind the line with who we have, is it worth risking a season for you to hope you have that "ah ha" moment? to me i would not risk it and would have drafted a RB or kept Murray at said asking price because we as a team put ourselves in this situation.

How did the team put themselves in that situation? Murray wanted more money than we were willing to give him. We set a line and wouldn't cross it.

It's disgusting how many yards Murray left on the field. AP would have had concussions from running into the goal posts last year here.

Eh...I don't really care who we get to finish out the last round. Kevin White from TCU would be nice

What do they know? We have the real draft gurus here.

and some of those GM draft gurus passed on Tom Brady, Tony Romo, WR Boldin and took guys like Akili Smith, Quincy Carter...
so telling everyone that we don't know as much as the GM draft folks is usually just as wrong as it ever is right.

this isnt a 4th for a 3rd....but is this kinda what you guys are talking about?

Patriots

Traded 2009 third round pick (#89-Jared Cook) to Titans for 2010 second round pick (#47-Daryl Washington) on 2009-04-26

Exactly. This is the norm for the draft. A 3rd this year equals a 2nd next year. I don't agree with it, but that's how they view future picks.

At the moment, I don't really see any DTs coming in and being a better prospect than Ken Bishop with a year of experience.

1) I'm surprised we haven't addressed DT yet as well. But don't forget we have Crawford, McClain, Bishop, Coleman and Hayden (who incidentally led the DL in tackles last year.)
2) This will most likely be addressed in the 7th round. If not, I see the 3rd string RB or a receiver handling the position.
3) I can see a RB by committee working this year behind this line. But I also see it being addressed much earlier in 2016. I think QB and RB will be the first two picks next year.
4) We needed it badly and everyone here knows that. That's exactly what we did.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised at mid-season with this draft. We've addressed the pass rush drastically and added a 1st round corner. We know that the improved pass rush will compliment the DBs. We've replaced Parnell at the swing tackle with a man who the Cowboys had rated #1 on their board. We'll have fresh legs at the RB position. WR and TE are not an issue. QB is iffy if Romo goes down so on that we pray. And let's not forget that we got what the NFLN is stating as the steal of the draft in Gregory.

I think everything has gone pretty well so far. And let's not forget that the Cowboys have a knack for getting very good value in the 7th round. There's never a draft where you completely fill all your needs, but I have to say I think we've done pretty with our picks, especially from the position we are picking from.

i see why thats the trade value, you have to "win" in Order to not get a player to help you right now
