***Official Day THREE draft thread***

Would you say the front office doesn't think much of Murray and think it was all the OL.

They better be right.

I'm can't wait to see McFadden behind this line. Better pure runner than Murray.

Well crap, Philon is gone. Would've rather had him than Russell.

Seeing how the authorities have already stated that he has nothing to do with the murder, and is just a POI, I'd love to see the Boys scoop up La'el Collins if he's still available. I'll take a 1st rounder all day in the 7th.

What's the status on Ifo's injury? Is it some career-threatening thing I don't know about? If he's just gonna miss some, or all, of his rookie season, and even if he's not the tallest CB, why would you not take a 1st round talent in the 6th or 7th? What do teams know that I don't?

And what if the McFadden in Dallas plays like the McFadden in Oakland?

You willing to piss away a season just to find out, especially when your franchise QB is in his golden years?

Risky, very risky.

1) I'm surprised we haven't addressed DT yet as well. But don't forget we have Crawford, McClain, Bishop, Coleman and Hayden (who incidentally led the DL in tackles last year.)
2) This will most likely be addressed in the 7th round. If not, I see the 3rd string RB or a receiver handling the position.
3) I can see a RB by committee working this year behind this line. But I also see it being addressed much earlier in 2016. I think QB and RB will be the first two picks next year.
4) We needed it badly and everyone here knows that. That's exactly what we did.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised at mid-season with this draft. We've addressed the pass rush drastically and added a 1st round corner. We know that the improved pass rush will compliment the DBs. We've replaced Parnell at the swing tackle with a man who the Cowboys had rated #1 on their board. We'll have fresh legs at the RB position. WR and TE are not an issue. QB is iffy if Romo goes down so on that we pray. And let's not forget that we got what the NFLN is stating as the steal of the draft in Gregory.

I think everything has gone pretty well so far. And let's not forget that the Cowboys have a knack for getting very good value in the 7th round. There's never a draft where you completely fill all your needs, but I have to say I think we've done pretty with our picks, especially from the position we are picking from.

Thanks for the reply, I agree we have done pretty dam well out of this draft. At QB and RB - yes its next year for sure. QB's coming out next year are more pocket passers, and will be more NFL ready. RB not sure about. Next year we will have at least 3 comp pics (I hope) so that will also help. Plus our full 7 round pics - man, I wish that had been this year. They have definitely taken some risks with the roster this year.....

Only problem with that is he's already said he will re enter the draft if he wasn't picked yesterday. And considering that he will only be 22 when the next draft happens, I think he has a chance to still go much higher than he can at this point.

I doubt any of these rookie RBs are gonna light it up next season. The transition into the NFL is a gradual one.

Exactly. This is the norm for the draft. A 3rd this year equals a 2nd next year. I don't agree with it, but that's how they view future picks.

here is another one, also from 2010. 2010 was the only year I looked at but there are at least 2 examples in that year. Here is the other one:

Panthers
Panthers
Traded 2011 second round pick (#33-Ras-I Dowling) to Patriots for 2010 third round pick (#89-Armanti Edwards) on 2010-04-23

I've noticed that these guys that get picked late because they are injured and end up missing a good portion of their rookie year hardly ever amount to anything.

Ahh.. I thought he attempted to opt out of this year's draft and enter the supplemental draft; which he was denied on. Didn't hear that.

As far as those this year for next year trades go, the reason the price is so high, IMO, is because the team trading this year's pick is not only losing the pick, but a year of development for the player they would have picked. The team providing next year's pick has to compensate them for the loss of the player and the year's development, and that usually means a higher pick.

He'll just refuse to sign and re-enter the draft next year. If he's not drafted, he can't do that.
