I really think it would have been a blessing for Zimmer and Payton to go when they had the chance. I fully understand the players play the game, but it dont help when you struggle with play calling on both sides. We should have brought someone in who knew the 3-4 defense! I wasn't planning on anything better then 8-8, but to lose that washington game and then play lousy, and come close today  How is the team going to react,in years past they put their tail between their legs and called it a day.

I'm sure he was blocking and if he was running a route I'm sure it was a 3 yard route when we needed 5.

Only because the *genius coaches* had him doing that of course!

Cowboys ain't going to the Playoffs this year. That's my vent. I think it's obvious to all, and it doesn't help playing in the strongest division in the NFC. I've accepted it after today. The team looked horrible out there. Raiders gave them so many chances and they still couldn't do it. We don't have a QB who can win games like a franchise QB should. We don't have a stable running attack. We have an inconsistent defense. Special teams has looked pretty bad. Coaches are making all kinds of mistakes. Cowboys ain't going anywhere this year. Here's hoping all the young guys get even better, and we do something next year.

AMEN, Preach it brother!!! A few of us realists have been saying this for a long time- I'm just not sure those fools running this team have the jack to ever win or the brains to go out and get the parts we need to win.

I disagree......if BP had allowed Drew to pass since the begining of the game we would have pulled ahead to stay before the half.

This on is on the coaches....they did not put the tetam in a position to win......they keep playing not to lose instead of playing to win. And all that is getting us losing games.

BP put the Chargers and 49ers games in Drew's hands and he pulled it off. Today he refused to do it and we lost.

No,No,No!
BP said they weren't going to pass alot the 2nd half.....THE RUNNING GAME HAD TO BE ESTABLISHED!!!

Please forgive BP, he's getting a little senile in his old years. He actually thought it was 1991 again and he had O.J. ( 2 yards and a pile of dust) Anderson back at running back.

Yeah that 4th down play was the same as that 4th down play against the Commanders were need what like 5 yards and run a play that goes only 4 yards. Not the greatest at math but i think 5 is more than 4. But i wonder if Payton knows that or the receiver whos ever fault it is

Been saying it for a while...this "bus driver" approach to the roster, to the game plan, etc...is never going to cut it in the NFL today.

If this was the NFC Central in 1975, it would be a good philosophy.

Aye, the game has changed some since 1991. :D

Heck, 4 yards when we need 5 would be a breath of fresh air. It gives the WR a chance to stretch for the 1st down.

One of the best summations of the Parcells coaching philosophy I have seen.

Not when the receiver is already about to get hit as soon as he catches the ball

Even if Glenn caught the ball, he wouldn't have gotten the first down. STUPID CALL.

tough loss.

kills me how bad their d is and how many penalties they commited and we still couldnt take advantage.

waiting on this team just to make the playoffs and win just one playoff game has been all i asked for the last 8 yrs.

i think we are headed in the right direction but this whole division looks to be imoproving.

reagardless its early in the yr and anything can happen. but this effort or lack thereof today took alot out of me..will be staying away from the board for a few days as its sure to get ugly.

eagles at home next week. anythings possible but hard to envison a win. time to turn off the tv as i dont want to see lowlights of the dallas loss and listening to how much of a "warrior" mcnabb is for playing thru his 'big injury'.

still early and we are still in it..but the performance today reminded me of last yrs team.

I think we're a team that has good young D talent, but play vets that shouldn't be in there in this scheme. Canty had a really good game, Ware too. But they didn't play Spears until the failed FB try did they? I don't think Ellis is strong enough to anchor, Coleman is almost nonexistent as a starter.

I think we're an offense that would rather let the D win and just collect field goals. At least that's how BP won it all back in 1985 and 1991. Doesn't that still work though????? :laugh2:

I know I do not post much in the forum, but it makes no sense to me why Parcells stresses the run game, then first and goal on the 10yard line, Jones picks up 6 yards, then because he gets stuffed on 2nd down, to go to two passing plays and ball goes over on downs. What ever happened to running behind LA & FA? Surely we could have gotten the 4 yards on 2 plays behind them. Or was it probably the opinion that the Raiders would be looking for it? Just curious on what you think.

and then, to make it worse, even within this putridly conservative play calling, we call the most conservative plays...

Where do we run? Up the middle all game long.

When we need four yards, we run a 3 yard pass route.

The thing that should really worry all of us is what happened last year. Parcells actually thought he was in good shape with that roster...a team of bus drivers at every position...
