The officiating in this league has gotten stupid...

These refs don't even know the basic rules...

I'm starting to think these guys are all SEC trained...

Do these guys have other jobs than being Officials?

If so then thats a problem imo. These guys need to be 100% dedicated to their sport.

I think a big improvement would be to not call something unless you see it and another would be to not use the Challenge rule to your advantage when you know what the correct call is but you don't call it because you know it can be challenged.

I guarantee that Packer ref knew Felix was down. He was right there on it.

:hammer: However, they have been instructed to allow a player to be stripped of the ball while laying on the field. Insanity personified.

You just nailed it.
These are part time refs.
They do have other jobs.
The NFL for ALL THE MONEY they make only pay the refs part time $'s.
They botched that decision before halftime...I still have a hard time believing that a so-called professional referee crew could screw up a situation like that.

What pissed me off today is that they spent ALLLLLLLLLLLL that time figuring out that one call today. Why didn't they do that last week when more than a couple calls were questionable??

Gawd, don't remind me of that play. I was pissed. That stupid ump was staring RIGHT AT THE LINE..good grief. The Twins probably wouldn't have won the series but they would have won that game.

i thought when a play went off, the previous play cannot be reviewable, or is that in case its against the Cowboys? Did hte Skins get helped on those two calls, or am i just being biased?

I still dont understand the review. Isnt the rule that after a play goes off, you cant review it? The play clock expired and a penalty was called.

If what they did today was legit, every team in the NFL should simply take delay of game calls during the last two minutes of a half and wait for them (officials)to eventually review the play, if they believe it warrants it. You save a timeout and still get what you want in the end, and then they overturn the 5yd delay of game penalty too.

They botched a bunch of stuff today. Nobody will ever convince me this team doesnt get the shaft with the officials.

No play took place. There was just a delay of game penalty - considered a pre-snap offense.

The officials ultimately got the call right - they just impersonated the keystone kops getting there.

I thought the officiating was fine except for the rule before halftime. It's funny that all of the talk about the videoboard being hit with a punt in preseason would be an 'embarrassment' to the league that nobody bothered with the constant embarrassment of NFL officiating.

I don't think making the refs full time helps the issue. They will want to be paid more (they make good money already). The problem is that the league does a poor job of developing refs and an even poor job of grading and promoting/demoting refs for doing a good/poor job.

Let's say we go to full time refs, I still think Jeff Triplette is going to still ref like he did in the Packers game.

Baseball...
You are talking about a sport who is so stuck in the the mudd.
That sport never changes unless and an act of Congress demands it.
That play that they missed is not even reviewable because baseball is afraid of the umpire's union much like they were afraid to test the players because of thier fear of the players union.

:lmao2: Poetic justice was that the Skins still missed the FG kick after that extended review and delay.

I thought I saw one of the refs slam his hat to the ground in disgust after the FG was missed.

:laugh2: Just kidding.

i have been trying to tell some zoners they dont know the rules

did you see a Commanders wr move the football after a ref put downthe football and the ref missed the Commander moving the football for a first down trickblue?

thats dumb on the refs, and we all saw how the League office had to call in and tell the refs on the play that campbell ran out of bounds and threw the football. Like wade said, if the qb throws the football to get out of a sack etc, he has to throw the football past the line of scrimmage or a penalty. The league office missed that call too.

Yet, some zoners say you shouldnt fine the refs, suspend them or fire them, but i guess its ok if these refs make 100,000 to 200,000 a year, and no one wants to hold them accountable, i guess we as fans have ourselves to blame for allowing this to go on.

Even some announcers have said the past 2 weeks on ref calls have been horrible, not just in dallas.

worst of all was how the NFL head office then called the stadium to tell them to move the ball forward 5 yards

that too, took like 7 minutes for refs to try to decide what to do and they still didnt know the rules. Now, Commissioner Goodell says that the refs are great and no problems with the officiating. How long as fans are we going to let Goodell get away with that?

I am telling you zoners, we are going to lose another game because of the blown refs calls and missing things while not knowing the rules.
