Offseason change: Linehan with more control?

Based on the number of screens and quick passes this year, is it possible that Linehan succeeded at some point in the offseason (maybe even up to when it became apparent that Dak was going to be starting), in convincing Garrett to let him "tweak" the offense more? Maybe with last years disaster as evidence that the system needed some modern tweaks?

Can we keep this about Linehan?

And I would agree that I think more of Linehan has been incorporated into the offense. Either by actual plays or the playcalling itself.

He called the best game I've seen from this team in sometime. Was very impressed. Other than the three straight passes near the end of the half.

The jet sweep, the play actions... just had them on their heels all game

I think starting a rookie QB is the main driver behind the call changes. They're calling to his strengths.

this. they had an offseason where tony was injured and they had to go back to the drawing board with the rookie

The Dallas offense is so much better going sideways with all of these roll outs and screens.

I love it.

They are timely playcalls too.

I've seen our offense fool more defenses in just 6 games than I think I've seen in the entire Garrett tenure.

I find it hard to believe that screens have been nearly non-existent in the Dallas play calling repertoire because Romo couldn't do it. I'm wondering if Garrett just didn't really like them, and it has taken last year and the Dak situation to allow Linehan start subbing in some other routes and looks and ditch some of those deep outs. If or when Romo comes back in, do the wrinkles remain though?

He's had total control since he got here, you guys just blame Garrett when something goes wrong.

Garrett basically has no say in this offense.

I agree this is more Linehan and that is a VERY good thing. Sometimes less of some people who will go unmentioned in this thread is MUCH more. This benefits the team.

Even in 2014 we didn't make teams pay for cheating with multiple numbers in the box.

I think someone got chewed out for that Giants game this year and now we are calling plays up to NFL level and not just constantly running into a wall.

It's the only thing I worry about if we switch back to Romo.

I've heard Dak struggles at times to recognize some coverages so if we can't run it he may struggle more.

Regardless we are awesome when we can run our offense.
