First order of business is who are you resigning and who are you dumping.

What direction do you all think this team is going to go? Unfortunately I feel like they are going to overdraft a WR or TE and again ignore beefing up this defense which is on the cusp of being a really elite unit. Which would be shameful and more of same nonsense. If I had the choice I would be adding playmakers to this defense. And if that means trading picks to move up spots and only draft 4-5 players. Good. I am sick of drafting 2 good players and then 8 players who may or may not even make the team. Quality over quantity.

If Hopkins does become available or Michael Thomas is released. Then I absolutely try and bring in one.

Free Agency
Do everything you can to sign Payne.
If that is our only acquisition our defense just got leaps and bounds better.
Resign LVE, Brown, Hankins, Hilton.

Draft
Anton Harrison/Siaki Ika/Any of the top 3 CBs to start.

That is just a quick run down as I havent started my draft prep yet. But this team cannot spend another first on a WR. Id rather get a reclamation project like Thomas who has a massive catch radius .

I will be doing a deeper dive after the Superbowl but this is where my head is at. Lets make this D truly ELITE!

“ Overdraft ?” …. Hmm a few years back at draft time, some here were thinking same thang (overdraft?) with selection of CeeDee Lamb when we already had Amari and Gallup on board.

I recalled some here were infuriated when we picked Lamb over LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson because of the bigger need for defense.

Lamb is gonna be a perennial pro bowler for years to come .. while Chaisson has been a complete bust 1st rd pick.

Further thoughts ?
So long as we don’t have any defensive coordinators’ great influences in the ear of Wil McClay,(ala Marinelli and Quinn) I’m down for trusting McClay with drafting for the best value.
- Not reaching for the sake of pleasing his DC coach.
- That’s how we end up with Taco Charleton instead of TJ Watt.
- And drafting scrub pet projects in the 3rd rd in CB Nashon Wright.
