Get Barber and Canty resigned or Transition tag them so we're compensated a 1st and 3rd round pick if someone signs them away.

Re-sign Hamlin.

There's a vet CB I'd love to see come home if he gets released in a cap move. His name is Shawn Springs and he should be closer to his dad. Be a good Nickel CB and a good fill in if we have injuries. I would still draft a CB in round 1.

Trade for Detroit WR Roy Williams and let Terry Glenn go. He's bigger, younger, and has more upside. Glenn has been great here but in hindsight we should have released him last March before he got a 3 million dollar roster bonus.

Draft focus on CB, RB, & WR with an emphasis on speed.

Just my opinion.

hos, dont you think Tennessee is more reasonable landing spot for williams. It gets him out of the conference, reunites him with an old teammate even though they never really played together and they have the cap space to give him a new deal in the future, plus they are more than desperate at wr.

I really love the idea of springs being a nickel guy here and a corner drafted in the first round. That would be fabulous.

Definitely re-sign Hamlin.
Consider Flo, if reasonable.

In FA,

Sign a 3rd CB (D Florence or Springs?)

Sign a WR (to likely replace Glenn) Guys like DJ Hackett, Gage, maybe pull of a trade for a bigger name. More expensive FA WRs like Berrien also out there.

Consider signing a serviceable RB depending on price - Fargas?

In DRAFT
Keep both number 1 picks.

Day 1
Draft a CB (to eventually start down the line)
Possibly Draft a WR (to groom for number 1)
Possibly Draft a RB (to complement with Barber and/or FA pick-up)

DAY 2
Add another OL (OT), and maybe even take 1 high if Flo isn't re-signed.
Add depth to ILB position
Find a punt returner/kick returner - this may be the CB/WR/RB we have already drafted.

I think that covers the major needs.

I'm also in favor of Springs.

I think a seasoned vet could help us a lot while we break in a rookie draft pick.

I just hope the Commanders are forced to cut him. There were rumors they may try to really keep him as C Rogers (?) is out for a lot of the 2008 season. I read that on ES in any case . . . .

I would love to add Shawn Springs. For one thing, I think he's a heck of a player. For another thing, I like the symmetry of him coming home. And most of all, I want this team to have another good corner.

1)Bring in ONE significant WR to compliment what we have.
Sign Randy Moss if availible or
Trade for Roy Williams or
Draft a WR in the first round.

2)Convince our Roy Williams that he needs to play at 218 lbs. Explain to him that he will be weighed once a month and that he will not step on the field at more than 218 lbs. I'm convinced that will solve our problem here.

3)Sign Adam Jones to team friendly, incentive laiden, you best not cut a loud fart contract.

4)Resign Hamlin.

5)Extend Canty, Newman and Ware to long term deals with relatively low 2008 cap numbers.

6)BPA in the draft, with a focus on DB, OL, Barber's backup and Romo's backup.

7) If practical, sign Flozell.

I think the main theme for 2008 should be 2008. I'm not saying we should mortgage the future. But I am saying we should do everything to get over the hump in 2008. Gamble on Moss and Jones. Keep Fergy and Ellis for much needed depth and veteran presence. Make 2008 and all in year.

I liked some of the ideas above.
I would resign Barber.
Let Flozel go.
Resign Hamlin.
Trade Roy...Start Watkins (Sorry Roy Homers, just how i feel)
Get rid of Spears, start Hatcher.
Get rid of Akin and force the scumbag Carpenter to play.
Bye Julius.
Get a FA wide reciever. I like the idea of partying ways with Glen.
Extend TO.
Resign Killer.

Draft: CORNER BACK!!!!!
Also running back and please find a young big nose tackle.

I like your plan, but I think it would be in our best interest to see what it would take to get Fitzgerald from AZ. I would think that they would jump at a chance to acquire our 28th pick for Fitzgerald. And if that was not enough, I would entertain the idea of adding a low 2009 draft pick (5th).

Yes, although he recanted it later when the Detroit media bristled a bit.

Privately he still talks about wanting to be a Cowboy.

We have got to re-sign Barber, Hamlin and Canty.

If we bring in a WR in FA then we deffinately go CB/RB with our picks in the first round. If we were to add Shawn Springs that would be a great move, we need depth in the secondary. I think what we have is good we just need to add a Vet CB and our first rounder. The first round corners this year all appear to have what it takes and could also help out on PR from day 1.

I think Roy Williams would be a nice fit, the guy is a monster I just dont know what it would take to bring him here. What about Berrian? I think he could add the speed to our WR's if Glenn were to leave.

In the middle I think that Ayodele could be gone, I dont know about picking up FA here, I think that its time for Bobby to take the field.

The DLine. I think that we could see a lot more of Hatcher this year. I do like the notion of having Canty, Spears, Ratliff, Ferg, Johnson, Hatcher. If Ferg comes back I think that keeps everyones legs fresher in the game and through the season. Look for some position battles Hatcher v. Spears ?

Terrell "Terror" Suggs. Him and Ware. ****. Spencer can be the backup for both positions and get him to put his hand down on 3rd and long.

That matters to me. One of the reasons I've bent over backwards defending our Roy. He really wanted to be here. Wanted to be a Cowboy from day one.

Surprised nobody had a thought on Roy dropping more weight.
Is it possible? Would the team ask him to do it? Would it help?

If nothing else, Roy is an intersting problem. He's obviously hurting us in the starting lineup. His recent play and contract make a trade unlikely. He's good enough to not want to cut. He's paid enough to want to cut. His cap hit in the unlikely event of a trade would be tough.

I'm convinced the only beneficial solution to this problem is to find a way to make him a better player.
I dont know the player that well.
For all the Roy debates here, I've never seen someone who claims to know, discuss his work ethic.
Is Roy a gym rat? His build would suggest not.

I think we all agree that he looked the part of a special player in his rookie year. Maybe a complete dedication to physical fitness is the answer. Perhaps if he got in Newman's back pocket, addopted his routine, we'd get something closer to the 2002 Williams.
