With Cowboys most likely to keep 9 o-lineman, there is a possibility that one may have to go. I had a debate with my brother that if it came down to Dallas having to let go one who would it be. My argument was that we would keep Ogletree because he has way more upside then Hurd and he has that scary speed that teams fear. My brother argued that we would keep Hurd because he is a great special teams player and he can back up every receiver spot because hes been around for years. So give me your opinion. If cowboys could only one, who would it be? Ogletree or Hurd?

Hurd is what he is.

Special teamer. Nothing wrong with that but that's probably not gonna be enough to get him a spot.

As you said Ogletree has more of an upside to him than Hurd as a WR. I expect Ogletree to see an increased role in special teams this season as well which is important since you have a 45 man game day roster and it is hard to justify that roster spot for a guy who is the 4th WR if he is not contributing on special team.

Ogletree but I think they keep both. Next year, when RW11 is cut, Crayton, Ogletree, and Hurd will all have a place and a very essential role.

I dont mean to disrespect Hurd but i dont think he will ever become a standout receiver like O-tree has the potential to be

Ogletree. Hurd isn't *that* great at special teams and Ogletree can do kickoff returns and probably punt returns, too. Plus the age and speed factor.

Hurd has had his chances so I say Ogletree. He's Jerry's boy and he is a little cheaper I believe.

You really think Hurd would be kept over RW next year. I doubt that very much.

Its not that Hurd is the better receiver then Roy, its about money and attitude. If Roy doesnt have a big year hes probably gone after this season

Ogletree is not going anywhere.we need to trade Crayton, or we need to cut him.

OTree >>> Hurd

just think of what one you rather see playing for another team...

Hurd, yea he'd be on another team but wouldn't be a huge lost where as if Ogletree was on another team and turned out to be a great receiver then that would kill us knowing we should have kept him. so I'd have to go with Ogletree and his potential vs Hurd and the special teams help he gives

Next year Roy is gone if Hurd is on the team or not. Barring an injury to Miles this season (knocking on wood right now), he has to put up All-Pro numbers, and be the main guy while winning the Superbowl. Too much to ask for and too expensive to keep.

Yes, I can see that, on the money issue.

they're not competing for the same spot in my opinion. The question you should be asking is Crayton vs Ogletree, and Hurd vs "the field".

The powers that be seem to think that Ogletree has the shot to be the next Miles Austin.

They were very high on him last year and from what I understand he's being compared to a young Terry Glenn. He's very raw and it's going to take a couple more years before he's totally ready, but I think they're going to give him the nod over guys like Pat and Sam because of his price and upside. And I've heard rumors that Garrett wanted to put him in instead of Roy at the end of last year because of his explosiveness.

The typical response is, 'well if they are so high on him why did they draft Dez Bryant'. And the answer is, Dez is a talent that comes along once every 5 years. He's going to immediately set the league on fire and his physical skill set is something I've never seen before. Most guys have a physical weakness, Dez doesn't. Thats why you don't pass on him, especially when he slips past 24 very naive teams.

Exactly. People think that the drafting of Dez meant a lack of confidence in Ogletree. Dez was just too good to pass up. It had nothing to do with O-tree, and Ogletree did start to replace RW11 at the end in the season. He took Roys spot a couple of times against the Eagles
