Tony Romo throws 8 passes, leads the team to 2 TD's, 1 of which was on an extremely short field due to a defensive play, the other set up by the running of Thompson, and people are talking about him as the QB of the future.
Can I please remind you of
*CLINT LONGLEY
*JASON GARRETT
*STEVE PEULLER
*STEVE WALSH
*GARY HOGEBOOM
*KEVIN SWEENEY
*GLEN CARANO
What did these guys have in common? They all looked GOOD in a few games. Jason Garrett lit up a few teams at different times as the Cowboys backup. People had the audacity to ask him questions after big games about whether he desired to continue as the starter. This was with Hall of Fame QB Troy Aikman as the starter.
Looking back can you believe that people even mentioned Garrett, or Steve Walsh in the same breath as Aikman? I can't.
What I'm trying to say is that Tony Romo is Tony Romo. This is what Jerry Jones has been saying, and I for one agree with him. Does Big Bill agree? I have no idea, but I say again, I don't like Big Bill's sense of value for the QB position anyway.
So, while many here want to say "Hail Romo", I say he is a smallish, limited, QB who will be a career backup if he even stays in the NFL. I said the same about Q. Carter (as did many others) and was shouted down for it at the time. But we see where he is.
I'm not a Bledsoe fan either, but at least he has NFL caliber tools. I happen to think that Henson does too. I'm hoping that Jerry holds fast to his view on this.
