NASHVILLE, Tenn. Aug 12, 2006 (AP)— New Orleans quarterback Adrian McPherson went to the locker room early in the third quarter after a golf cart ridden by the Titans' mascot hit him at the end of halftime Saturday night.

A Saints spokesman wasn't immediately available for an update on the quarterback, who's heading into his second season.

The mascot was riding on a golf cart and throwing items into the stands during halftime, and was heading off the field when the Saints were returning from their locker room for the third quarter.

The cart hit McPherson, who stayed on the field for a few minutes being checked out by a trainer on the sideline. He then walked off the field.

Seriously--if you were a player who'd been hit by a mascot, don't you think you'd ask witnesses to make something up? You know--"I was run over by a mob of nuns on the sideline" or something like that?

(Remember the really bizarre incident a couple of years ago where some team bus got shot at, & the bullet grazed a rookie's leg but he was ok because he was wearing cheerleader go-go boots as a hazing stunt?)

I'm getting a chuckle out of imagining what Parcells would personally do to Rowdy if something like that ever happened!

Being a Jersey guy--well, remember how parts of Hoffa were found in various places? I'm thinking we'd be finding parts of Rowdy....let's just say it wouldn't be pretty!

"T-Rac," the Tennessee Titans' raccoon-like mascot, hit Saints quarterback Adrian McPherson with a golf cart as he walked onto the field for the second half Saturday night, bruising him and knocking him out of New Orleans' 19-16 victory in the teams' exhibition opener.

"He got run over by the mascot," coach Sean Payton said. "I don't know what to do. We've got to play the Titans. The mascots and all the other stuff going on, it's crazy."
