Ok, draft guru experts and nfl rules experts, why cant a team talk to a player if a trade is involved.

Example, the cowboys are supposedly interested in pacman jones, to me, if your interested in trading for a player, and the team like the titans give you permission for a trade, then why cant you talk to the player, let alone his agent to talk contract parameters.

Seems to me, like parcells once said, you should be allowed to buy the groceries, to me, if your going to trade for a player, you should be able to talk to him, get a feel for him, why he did this or that, etc, and his thinking on how he could fit your team, and what position you want him to play etc.

So, say if its true the titans did give the cowboys permission to talk trade for pacman why cant they talk to pacman? Just doesnt make sense to me if your going to trade for a player and you cant talk to him.

The Cowboys can and are talking to Pacman. They were given permission by Tennessee to do so.

They can talk to his agent if the Titans give permission for his agent to seek a trade. I believe that was granted. So in essence they can. Almost 99% of this stuff is done through the agent with the player not involved until the signing of the deal.

It seems many of you are up in arms about our lack of Adam Jones' rumors.
Let's break down the stories that are out there:

Pacman took a tour of the new stadium with Cowboys' officials from NFL Network. Checked it out with people who should know and was told it was false. If Pacman took a tour, then the Cowboys would have tampered with a player under contract with another team. They do not have permission from the Titans to talk with Jones. Given that San Francisco was caught tampering with Lance Briggs and it cost them a fifth-rounder and a flip-flop of third rounders with Chicago, I know the Cowboys would not have been so blatant.

The other story from SI.com has the Cowboys offering a seventh round pick and a player to the Titans for Pacman. Checked that out with people, too. They said it's not true.

Todd Archer reported earlier that Jones did not tour the new stadium with anyone from the Cowboys.

He was in town to do a radio spot and had dinner with Deion Sanders.

The Cowboys are not on the hook for anything.

whew thanks hostile, i got worried, i dont want to lose draft picks this year, we dont need to much to put us over the top, but 4th and 5th rounders can come in handy, besides our own top 1's and 2nd and 3rd,
