ok this is for the football guru's, that know the game have played it and coached it at some level.

I was talking with a friend of mine, that has played football, and coached it;

He said, basically a WR that has to wear a shoulder harness cant play worth a darn or whatever you want to say

My question is this; i was watching HBO hardknocks and if any of you caught it, wade was talking about stanbacks injury, and he stated if its the shoulder, same one he had surgery on, then he needs to have the surgery and go on IR.

MY question then goes to this;
Is this some of Jerry Jones involvement, that is wanting stanback to play, see his potential, what do you zoners think;

should we have stanback play, just think if it is his shoulder and he is returning kickoffs, etc or trying to make a catch and get popped on the shoulder, boom, wouldnt he fumble more, due to the pain, etc, or cant reach for the football on a certain pass, and cause an interception?

I practiced as a red shirt freshman with the same injury, knowing I wasn't going to play.

Stanback is getting paid to play football.

Yes, he should.

If He can play he should..He's probably still better then Amendola and Jefferson without one good shoulder. No offense.

He gotta prove that he with his injury history, that he can play thru to at least some extent......

when Austin and Hurd get back, take a little vacation...........or grab the spot by the horns, play lights out, and keep the #2 spot, force Crayton back into the slot........become a legend in his own time.....

then everyone would smile........

I'd like to add... he should play, but no way do I want him returning kicks. Not till that shoulder can take a full speed, high impact hit.

And eventhough he'd be the 3rd WR suited up, I'd still use him only as a 4th WR, with Witten playing WR and Bennet/Curtis as the TEs when we go 3 Wide.

I think he should only play if they are absolutely certain his shoulder is heathy enough for it, and he doesn't return kicks.

If there is any doubt that he won't be able to make it through the game, then just sit him for the week. We can survive one game, if he needs a little more time.

Even w/o the injury, I still think he isn't ready to play.

Good point. But at the worst case scenario, we could have him line up and run streaks all day, just to tie up the safety and help open things underneath for Witten and TO. If they leave him one on one on the outside, well, he should be ready for that. It's all the inside routes and option routes he's not ready for.

Same here.

Isaiah Stanback is emergency depth at the moment and we should not risk his health unecessarily.

As for Stan's shoulder, he practiced a good bit of last season wearing the harness and even drew the staff's praise for his difficulty to cover. He's also said this injury isn't as bad as the one was last year.

But there is no reason to have him on the field in any capacity right now.

Emergency depth.

Jason Witten played with a jaw wired shut.

No kickoff squad duties where a big hit dislodges the shoulder and the ball, but yes, he should play.

He just wanted to prove to Bill Parcells he wasn't a 'pass catching tight end.'

If he can get his hands up and still have some strength then he can catch the ball. The strap tries to limit the amount of travel to reduce the liklihood of another dislocation. Sorta works sometimes. A lot depends on how he feels, his exams and his studies and mostly how he's catching the ball. He must be gonna play at Cleveland.

Question here? I have heard that a shoulder harness can limit extension of the arm. Anyone know how true this is?

He will be fine to Kick return and emergency 3W

Witten, Felix cat, New TE and Pacman can cover.

Why we cut Lowber, Phillips and Amendilla.

So he fumbled and got hurt on a kick return but now that his shoulder has been yanked out of the socket and he eventually needs surgery on it you think he will be fine returning kicks?

I got a feeling we are going to see Scandrick and Jenkins, and if there is a God, Felix Jones in the mix as the kick returners.

As far as Stanback as a the #3 WR. Does it matter? Romo ain't throwing it his way anyway with Witten, T.O. Crayton, MBIII/Felix on the field. All he has to do is be a decoy.

Isaiah Stanback has dislocated his left shoulder twice returning eight kicks in his career so far and you want him back out there doing again in week one?

Just say no.

I played hockey on a sprained ankle last Tuesday because it was a playoff game and the team needed me. Stanback gets paid to play. If he can, he should.
