Put your Yankee hate aside for a minute LOL

I see this team as the Yankees that just missed advancing in the playoffs in 1995 due to a last minute crushing loss to the Mariners.

This loss coupled with the fact that we have some players on here that were cast off's and some past their prime reminds me of the Yankees of 1996 and on.

They came back the next year and lit EVERYTHING up.

I feel we are that close folks. I really do.

We were supposed to run the table because of the Cardinals, too.

No more baseball comparisons.

Couldn't agree more. I was just telling a guy that, as bad as this loss hurt SATURDAY, everything for Romo was coming a bit too easily for him right off the bat. Most QB's if you look back at their careers had to get past a bad playoff game, or in most cases multiple games. I remember Aikman was destroyed in his first playoff game, I think his first, against the Lions, but we know what happened the following year. I remember thinking that freakin Steve Buerline gave us the best shot to win that game as he just won at Chicago. Steve Young finally got past us as did Favre. Point being, they all felt huge disapointments BEFORE any playoff success. I think this makes him come in and work his tail off this summer, and I just don't know if that is the case if he goes out and wins a Super bowl right off the bat. Imagine the commercials, and distractions maybe even if he had reached the NFC Championship and played well. This should humble him and make him realize that success comes from hard work, and imagine him with a full summer with ALL the reps with the FIRST team! I am thrilled about us, and DALLAS moving forward.

Well Steve Young didnt get past us. We let him through...
Favre NEVER past through us. :)

Yes. You are spot on here. Hopefully because of what happened he will not go the Peyton Manning-type route of doing all commercials and accepting every outside-football opp that comes his way.

I think IF ROMO is guided correctly and FOCUSED...we will enjoy his success... if not we will just have a stop gapping-type QB with a little extra hype.

hehe... good analogy... stupidity of buck pitching jack mcdowell in relief.

next year will play itself out, regardless of sports past history.

right now the only analogy i think that is fitting is that the yankees have a meddlesome owner and the cowboys have a meddlesome owner. both are building new stadiums. both have high revenue. both have a coach who is press saavy and handles egos of the owners and overpaid players.

unfortunately it ends there

the yankees had an "acting" GMs since ~1993 (when george was unsuspended) that was a puppet to his whims. Last winter the yankees GM (brian cashman) won a power play and took control. you can see changes happening since (big useless RJ traded, sheff traded, arod/giambi trade explored) last winter as we're stockpiling young players agai.

OTOH jerruh still thinks he's the GM and is clueless about football in every way imaginable.

Man, what a great Monday. You half way agreed with what I said! First for everything! I think he will be at the Ranch all summer and soak up as much as he can. I also believe that a full off season of first team reps will be GREAT for him. I mean seriously. We threw him in after 6 games and said go get it, and we made the playoffs. Give he and the receivers a full summer together, and I look for great things next year provided we address offensive line.

A lot has to happen to even consider us in the hunt for a Super Bowl next year. Romo will be fine. TO in or out? If out, who do you replace him with? Not Hurd! Not Crayton! Not Austin! BP in or out? If in, then Zimmer must go!
As for the Yankees comparison, I can only hope so, that would be FANtastic. By the way, I believe their bench coach's name was (Don) Zimmer also! Ain't that weird! Go Boys!

At this point, yes the Eagles would have to be the favourites for the division next year assuming fatso decides he should continue to use the run with Westbrook.

I chuckle at how so many are enjoying pointing out we haven't won a playoff game since 1996 and that we are overhyped blah, blah, blah

If Romo has the moxie you all claim he has, then he will man up and be a superstar next year.

I think Crayton could absolutely be a number 2, but I don't think anyone other than TG on our team right now could be a number one. Having said that consider this. What if Jerry doesn't bring TO back.....We have all said that the WR FA's this year are average at best. Definately no number 1's out there to be had. Consider that he doesn't bring TO back, and Terry Glen's knee gives out in training camp....Where are we at. I like our young guys but not this much. This is another reason why TO will be back. Jerry might be sitting there thinking that he would have to find a one and a two if he let's TO walk.

I'm not buying it.

We were supposedly only a kicker away from 12-4 last year.. even though we had turnstyle tackles at the end to boot.

This year kicking wasnt really a problem as far as costing us games (I dont count the block or bobbled snaps).. our tackles were improved. I'm sure we thought we improved in other areas as well... just by certain guys getting more experience. Didnt matter.. it was a new year that owed to different things (some within your control, some outside) causing winning and losing.

No different than certain favorites tanking and certain also-rans shocking the world.

He could fight for #2.

He hasnt been given ALOT of opp's... so I would say its possible.

I don't know. I think if he is fighting for it then that is ok. I actually like his as a 2. Who is the number 2 receiver for the Chargers, Ravens, Philly, Seattle, Bears? My point is that I like him enough to be a 2, but hey I am not saying he should be or will be. Just my opinion that what I have seen from him is good enough to be a number 2 receiver in the league.

More like my beloved A's who blow it year after year in the playoffs. I guess that is not a good comparison either, since they actually make the playoffs consistently. How bout the Dodgers then? Storied franchise that makes the playoffs sporadically these days and do nothing when they get there.

My point with Crayton as a #2 is that it means Hurd or Austin is #3 and that means we have serious depth issues!
