Ok im back on the Jonathan Stewart band wagon

I'm not big on him. Doesn't seem to have much wiggle or balance and isn't much of a power back for a power back.

I agree with you. While I like the idea in principle of a shorter, stockier back with some speed like Stewart, and I sort of wanted to like him earlier in the year, he just didn't seem that impressive when I saw him.

Granted, I haven't seen that much of him.

I agree. What I've seen of him he doesn't cut very well and doesn't alway seem to run that hard. I think a lot of his production was due to the superior talent Oregon has and having a guy like Dennis Dixon at QB as another running threat.

For me, cutting ability and how hard you run are two of the five top factors I look for in a tailback. You'd be amazed at how good a running back can be if they are just great at those two factors.

This is a copy cat league and everyone is going to be looking for that change of pace guy like Marion Barber who can come in and absolutely punish teams.

This dude has the build to be that same type of back.

Hes built like Deuce Staley was and can move with lots of power.

1. I still don't understand why any of you are in favor of using a #1 draft pick on a RB so he can ride the bench behind MBIII and possibly get 8-10 carries a game if he's really good.

2. I don't understand why we'd use a #1 pick on a RB capable of being a full time starter on most teams, and then possibly have him turn out great, but be paying MBIII top RB money for being a backup.

You just can't do both...you cannot resign MBIII to the type of money he deserves as a probowl RB and use a first round draft choice on a part-time (at best) RB.

None of this makes any sense to me, though I love Jonathan Stewart.

I think at #22 we should take a CB, maybe a WR. If we hold onto the #28, Id look at WR, or see what the RB field looks like, possibly trading down to pick up more picks and getting a RB in the 2nd-3rd round.

I think there is a lot of really good backs in this draft but I have nothing against drafting a RB with a #1 pick.

It would be a huge/stupid risk for Dallas to be so naive and think nothing can happen to Barber.

1 thing i've been saying is we need a guy who can do more with less.

Julius Jones was never a more with less kinda guy.

MB3 fit that description perfectly in college and the pros.

I'd be thrilled with Felix Jones.

That reasoning seems silly and misplaced to me...the QB is even more important to our success than a RB. Suppose Romo gets injured...should we spend a #1 pick on a backup QB? It's not the same thing, but it is similar. I don't believe for a second that Dallas will both resign Barber and draft a RB in the first round...that simply won't happen. Name me one team in the NFL that is paying for a probowl RB as starter and has also used a first round pick on his backup/running mate/depth.

Besides, Barber is built for his running style, and he's never had a serious injury in college or the pros...it's not like he's an inside runner who runs upright. There have been backs in this league like JIm Brown, Earl Campbell, and others who were much more into contact than MBIII, and they didn't need another starting quality RB to back them up.

I think we'll wait till round 2 or even round 3, and if we sign a young back in FA, we may not draft a RB at all.

Wait, does Romo only throw 50% of the passes? Because last time I checked, Barber got only 204 carries, out of 382 carries by RBs (53%).

I read that the knock on him is that he maybe runs a little too hard, and needs to learn how to make people miss

btw, I don't know what's so hard to see taking a back in the 1st round, we have 2, 1st round picks, if one of the backs is the BPA when one of them rolls around, we should pull the trigger, they're probably never going to give Barber the chance to be a full-time back
