What's done is done. Anyone want to talk about Minnesota?

Can our edge rush get around their slower tackles?

Can we contain Adrian Peterson? (I wished all offseason that he could become a Cowboy. Oh well, no more prayer for me...;) )

Will we be able to run the ball against them? Are we built to?

Will we be able to pass against that cover two? Are we designed to?

Whattaya think, fellas? I haven't seen Minnesota hardly at all.

I'm not so worried about Peterson running as I'm worried about the screen and swing pass. :nervous:

Stopping Peterson is the obvious key

I agree. We lost to a better team, I was upset yesterday, now it's time to move on.

Yes, our edge rush can get around their tackles, but who cares? Like I'm afraid of Tavaris Jackson. Just don't get around those tackles only to get beat on a draw.

Yes, we can contain any runner. Regardless of Phillips' repuation, he is a stop-the-run defensive coordinator first and foremost.

I don't know if we can run the ball against them - we can't run against anyone until we wear them down. Biggest weakness we have on offense is our inability to run block well on a fresh defense.

Yes. See the Chicago game, a team that runs a better cover two. Romo has great success against the cover two, since we tend not to bomb it anyway. Our offense isn't predicated on the Big Play.

We should stomp them.

I've moved on. I'm ready for the Vikings.

Adrian Peterson ran up 230 yards against the Bears. I think we can manage him. Vikes are no slouch, but they don't have the WR's NE has ... no one does.

They also don't have a Tom Brady QB.

I think we rectify ourselves by beating up on the Vikes.

BTW ... any time TO starts talking about popcorn, it's an indication he'll come up small.

Peterson was damn impressive yesterday with over 200 yards rushing. Cowboys defensive front will have to put the clamps on him quickly and not let him get into a groove. Vikes have issues on defense that Dallas should be able to take advantage of. I don't think this is an easy game but it is a game we should win.

Bingo. We have got to be able to read those screens or else they'll get Peterson in space and it will be a loooooong day for our defense. I'm done predicting wins though. I'm very confident in the potential of this team but will sit my win predicting hat down for the rest of the season. I'll join in on predicting the Super Bowl score in February.

Thank goodness.

Yes, by all means let's look ahead as opposed to behind.

Obviously I think Minnesota is a huge step down from New England. For all the praise heaped on Tom Brady the true praise should go to his OL who are just fantastic. "Hostile, shut up, you're still talking about New England."

Yes, but to make a point. Tarvaris Jackson and the Minny O-line are nowhere near as dangerous and neither are there WRs.

What does this mean for the Cowboys? Easy, if you want to get the bad taste of this loss out of your mouth, what better way than to face a team like this and pressure their QB into mistakes.

That means the key will be shutting down Adrian Peterson. Can't be done you say. Hogwash I say. There were even college defenses who shut him down now and then. If they can then we certainly can.

The last game before the bye week is a good time to change things up a bit. Minnesota is very solid against the run. However, they have a weakness defending in the middle of the field on short to intermediate pass routes and when this gets exposed they leave themselves vulnerable over the top. If that isn't a recipe for a big game by Tony Romo and his band of hands then I don't know what is.

One last thing. Minnesota is one of the teams I really, REALLY want to beat this season. Why? Look at our head to head against them for the clue as to why. If we win this game, we pull to a tie all time against them. I hate teams having a winning record head to head against us. Hate it with a purple passion.

We have had quite a few plays this season where the recognition of our LBs has busted up a screen after they rushed upfield, or held it to a minimum gain. For some reason, I am a LITTLE worried about Jackson, his ability to move and his lightning fast receivers. One step up after Spencer or Ware blows past him and Williamson could be gone against THIS secondary.

Of course, he can't catch.

I agree. Chicago has shown serious weaknesses in run defense, it's not like Minnesota proved anything by hammering them. Most times against our defense, there is simply nowhere for the runner to go. #7 in ypg, even with that Giants mess.

I think we're built to destroy this particular defense. Sideline to sideline and then attack the seams. Very little sideline streak action.

You can't really play zone against us. Our QB is too smart and he will accurately lay it in the open area of the field. Yesterday the pats played a lot of zone which led to our passing game doing good things. Several times they focused on witten, but in a zone, and romo put it right where it had to be.

The cover two gives us the middle of the field, especially if your MLB isn't excellent in coverage, and we are very good at attacking the middle of the field.

I wasn't all that upset over the loss and pretty much over it and am thinking about our match against the Vikings.

As noted, the Vikings are one dimentional offense and their defense is below average. Our defense should manhandle their offense and our offense should be very effective against their defense, so I am looking forward to this Sunday already.

Our defense is giving up 3.4 YPC rushing. But my god, look at the Vikings defense. They're giving up 2.7 YPC rushing. That's unreal. And it's only on 16 less attempts than us.

I think we win by simply holding their running to a moderate amount, because their pass game (28th) and their pass defense (32nd) are both abysmal.

The Viks have been playing a lot of physical football with both their lines. Having a great back tend to make OL's block even harder.

On O:

1. Love to see a solid running game, from the 1st qrter to the 4th. Getting the OL pumped up going into a bye with an improved running attack would bode well for the tough schedule ahead.
2. Romo needs to move around and loosen up, he is looking "tight". Running game helps this happen.

On D:
1. Have a good run stuffing day with physical play in their backfield.
