Who would we get to replace him?
I'm not totally against his departure. I really believe he has taken this team as far as he can. But, realisticly, who would JJ get to come in? And who would JJ trust as much as Bill?
Jeff Fisher will be signed by the Titans to a long term deal. Thats out.
Cowher will take a year off. Maybe Tuna has 1 more year?
Not sold on Payton yet. Didnt think much of him as OC, but cant argue with his success in New Orleans.
God help us if Coughlin, Green or Mora came aboard.
Any thoughts?

I agree. Many people wants Parcells out of town, but not many give the thought of "Who do you replace him with and improve the team?"

The ones that can do that are already taken.

I don't know who I would want, but I know I don't want Jimmy Johnson back. Not because he isn't a good coach, or couldn't get to or win a Super Bowl, but this organization could really use a coach with some longevity. I don't think Jimmy would stay any more than 3 years. Both Fisher and Cowher are guys that could stay a while, as would Gruden.

I originally thought getting Parcells would help in this area even if he didn't stay for more than 4 years, based on who he would bring in. Looks like he stayed one year too long, as the best head coaching prospect already left for New Orleans. I don't think anyone on this staff has head coach potential and certainly not long term potential.

Generally, other than increasing the overall talent level, the Parcells era hasn't been much of a smashing success.

I think Parcells will return next season

I second that.

He's not going anywhere, at the moment.

Zimmer is probably gone, though.

how many threads do we have to have about firing our head coach?

We have a playoff game saturday and all anyone wants to do is talk about firing the coaches, on a week where we have a playoff game.

Its getting embarassing.

If he is gone I'd be more for bringing in a pro coach than a college coach.

As I said last week I think that has to be the coaches choice. I'm not defending Zimmer as much as I'm defending the right of a HC to pick his own assistant coaches and I do think that is critical

Now this is the last time I am telling you.

Take the name Rich Rodriguez off of that list.

For one thing he is the inventor/master of the spread offense, and secondly he defenses (he is not a defensive coach) have been as bad or worse than the cowboys.

Plus I don't want him leaving WVU.:)

However Greg Schiano is an interesting name. Anyone that can take the perennial losers at Rutgers and turn them into a legit team.

I think he stays no matter what though, he turned down gigs with Miami and Bama already. I have no clue if he has a personal dream job but I think he would be wise to stay where he is, if he keeps up with that Rutgers program he will become a legend/hero in that area and be set for life.

It is.

I think we had less than this last year at this time.

Now I agreed with you but I think he deserves an interview. This is my team and I'll do what I want! :laugh2:

NO!

The interview with Bama was scary enough for WVU fans, we don't need that any longer.

keep Rich Rod in WVU.

I don't want to see Romo running a QB Draw 20 times a game.

I'll tell you what's embarrasing. Giving up 39 points to a putrid Lions team in a losing effort at home with a chance at a division title.

Having Lions players explain how their offense managed to score a season high in points because they knew if they attacked our pathetic zone defense there would be no adjustments.

Losing 3 out of 4 games (all 3 at home) on the final stretch run where we could have gotten a 1st round by and homefield advantage.

I hope and will root for a win in Seattle. But I sure dont expect it.

I personally dont think Tuna is gone. Zimmer, yes. You cant argue that the Team isnt better then it was before he came in.
I think he has 1 more year. And i'm fine with that, if other changes are made. It's just i see the Team quitting on him for some reason. Not sure why.

Great summary. Exactly how most of us are feeling right now.

Hope springs eternal, but I like to have some basis for thinking we have a team that can show up in a playoff game. I have no reason to think we can and blind faith is relegated to Arizona and Oakland fans, and is not worthy of those proudly wearing the Star.
