With regard to coaches, who should be hired, who shouldn't...etc...

I've always been stumped by logic that goes like this:

"I think we should get Jimmy Johnson back"

"Oh yeah, sure. He did such a GREAT job with the Dolphins"

Or...

"I'd take Belichick over Parcells any day of the week."

"Oh yeah, sure. He did such a great job with the Browns"

Why does one down period with a team negate all the good that a coach has done prior or after?

When Parcells' career comes to a close, if he doesn't win in Dallas it should negate what he did elsewhere?

And Landry losing at the end should negate what he did prior?

And Shula not being a great success with the Dolphins for the last years, should negate what he did prior?

Paul Brown? What a bum. With the Bengals, 8 years, no playoff wins...and only three winning seasons. BUM.

And that Lombardi guy did NOTHING with the Commanders.

Oh and Shanahan is a bum also because of what he did with the Raiders.

Uh, you get my drift.

you didn't pick their choice of coaches, so they run to find the 1st negative thing they can and that's their entire point.

I'm leaning in this direction. Yep.

I think the motivation is much more sinister than "what have you done for me lately?"

I said "leaning".

You can still make an argument for your flawed, off target, misguided attempt at an explanation. ;) :D

i think we can all do that at times. but the bulk of us slow down and back up some when pointed out to us cause no one really wants to be "that type" of poster. i don't anyway so i hope this isn't construed for talking for everyone. :)

but like summer and super have caught me in - being pro parcells isn't the same as being pro-average. those not on parcells camp put those together cause that's what we see and we get amazed others can't see it while they're amazed we can't see the progress.

talk enough it all gets flushed out but yea, when people rush off to a bad experience for a good coach, it's usually based on perspective and their own thoughts of how something should take place.

because when jimmy was on dallas he had a stacked team and maybe got even lucky drafting, witht he hershel trade already done, most teams will never have a irvin or a aikman or a emmitt but we had all three at once. on the dolphins he coudlnt do anything. belichick had a great defense and brady, but on the browns he coudlnt put it together. people say this becuase some coaches fall into teams or everythign works out. but when they get put in a tight spot can they get out of it? can they draft the right players sign the right players to rebuild a team? kind of a simple concept i suppose...

Anyone and everyone will post a negative if it promotes their agenda, opinion, or to negate an opposite approach. Logic be damned.

Haven't you noticed......even an article "blows" no matter how well written or how on target it is. If it does not does not promote my side of the issue ....it "blows".

There are simply too many posters that will not take the time to look at both sides of an issue, it's my way or the hwy......Be damned if I let someone prove me wrong.
