First get use to the media rehashing stories of last year locker room. Take everything with a grian of salt; I mean it is second hand information being handed down there will be some truth; some exaggeration on issues or misunderstandings. This is also the Dallas Cowboys which equal $$ for the media they do have Papers; magazines and advertisiment to sell so everything will be reported on it also did not help this team underachieved and imploded.

Now onto what we can gather from what we saw and what we have heard this offseason and during the season.

This team was dysfunctional how bad and to want extent remains to be seen but even with that this team has a lot of talent. (I mean come on 9-7 with all that going on.)

The team looked like it had a communication and trust issues all season. The defense could be seen arguing in the huddle and when lining up guys not knowing there assignment. This goes back to guy like Spencer jumping his blocks guys not staying in lanes. If you do not trust the other guy to do his job you are going to try and make up for it to win who did it for what reason who knows but the issue is there and needs to be corrected.

The offense has issues galore with trust ? Who is at fault all of them period because they lacked trust all the way around from coaches to players to the owner. This needs to be resolved somehow some way; The QB; The Oline; rb everylast one of them

So basically this team imploded on it self it started with the laid back atmosphere of the HC and trickled down. There is only one way to fix this mess Wade needs to go back to the basic of hard work. It starts in camp with having those guys hit and hit hard. No more soft practices the players need to be ready to play and take hits. Jerry needs to back his HC decisions and make players go through the HC. What players need to stay or go ? I have my opinion on that but that does not make it correct or wrong just my opinion. The coaches and Jerry need to do what they need to do fix this trust issue. Make what ever tough decisions and execute them. I may not even agree with the decision but that is not the point.

Wade will be back for one more season along with Garret. I have a theory on this Jones is spending 500 million of his own money on the stadium and he will be giving Ware a large lump sum of money. When companies take on 500million capital projects it tends to hurt cash flow so for Jerry to fire wade + Garret = roughly 6 million. That becomes a lot to eat in salaries at this point plus another 3-5 million for the replacement HC plus the rest of the staff has to be let go and new staff hired. So my guess is old contracts + new contracts for replacement coaches would be around 12+ million then player bonus etc it starts to get a little choppy. SO Jones figures one more year he wil be out from Texas Stadium and in his new plush slot machine and he will have more cash flow next year and he will have several coaches contracts expire costing him little to gut and start over. Just to calrify again this is my theory.

So in recap we are stuck with the current coaching staff. The coaches; players and GM have to fix what ever locker room issues. This all starts with this offseason with making whatever roster decisions need to be made; filling in the open roster spots with hard working football players (we need solid players not more superstars in FA). Then finally going to camp and busting arse from day one with hard hitting; detial oreinted pratice and spare no one from any wrath for screwing up star QB to the water boy.

Your post has that “it’s an easy fix” feel to it. I mean, it’s the Philly playoff game coming up, who wouldn’t work extra hard or bust-(bleep)? I think the problems are much, much deeper than...“ok, guys, let’s work harder!” The complete mentality has to be changed. From ME-EGOs, to TEAM-SELF-LESSNESS mentality. That does not happen overnight and not all coaches can bring that type of mentality. And even if you get a coach like that, you have an owner who promotes the ME mentality.

Also, Jerry Jones is a billionaire, he has plenty of “cash flow”.

I just don't see the players taking Wade seriously at this point, and more importantly I don't see Jerry changing the way he has always been and stop siding with the players.

If you want guess, this is how I think it is going to play out - Wade is going to "get tougher", have more physical practices, touger fines ($150!!), and all that, and then the "injuries" are going to start piling up. The little groin pulls and hamstring tweaks with lots of quotes from players saying "If it was a real game I could play, but no sense taking a chance on a pre-season game." Wade is just not going to be able to turn into Parcells in one offseason, and the parties at the whirlpool will commence.

More meetings will be missed. More fines collected (200!!!), but Jerry will be too busy to notice or care because he will be negotiating merchandising deals in his new palace.

And at the first sign of adversity this season this team is going to collapse in on itself in another round of vicious finger pointing.

I think there's some truth to your theory. Personally, I'm lowering my expectations for 2009. I fully believe that 2009 will be a garbage season...one to give Phillips and Garrett their last lame-duck year as coaches in Dallas...to keep T.O. and other high priced misfits to absorb their salaries in 2009 (because cutting them means you still pay them and have to replace them by spending more)...to do all this so that all of these underachieving coaches and players can be let go in 2010...so that 2010 has a much clearer cap-space and cleaner slate/roster...an opportunity to hire a new coaching staff in 2010 so they can rebuild the Cowboys from scratch, by using this cleaner slate to re-build the roster, and to inheret players you want to keep with a lower cap hit (like Ware) and to lose the ones the new coaches won't want around (like T.O. and S. Roy Willimas).

I agree with the OP. Money is tight for everyone. Rates are up. Millions at relatively high rates for all. Jerry could have used one more year of stability for sure.

I bet money is tight for him. It costs him a million per day for his new toy. Extra. Not sure that's still going on but that was the rumor once. And I believe it.

I don't think money is the only reason. I'm certain Jerry could borrow from tomorrow if he had to and cut some people. Cutting TO means 9 million in dead money. Same for the coaches it just isn't cap money. I think Jerry wants to give Wade a chance. Wade is a good guy despite what anyone thinks of his coaching abilities. And he has brought a family culture to VR. Families fight the worst at times.

If he could get Shannahan in here and it not hurt him too badly I think he'd do it. And he may.

Never said it was easy and I do not expect it to happen either.

What the team needs and what happens is two different it was just my thoughts.
