OK, .. that Camry commercial

The Camry commercial where the guy rides into the outdoor wedding in his red Camry and it shows him leaving with the bride in the backseat.

That seems like a wild thing to do, or to have happen.

Does anybody have an example of that actually happening?

Not I. Mostly because I don't know any professional drivers, or where to get a closed course.

It would be awesome if you were the guy that drives in and steals the bride, .. but if it were me, I would always wonder why she was marrying that guy.

If it were me and my girl was leaving me for a guy cause he's drives a Camry, I would either think A) I must really suck, or B) she's a freaking idiot...or C)both....A Camry isn't even worth the money it costs to buy one

I don't think the point of the commercial is to suggest that she would jump into a shiny red Camry with any guy that comes along, just because he drives a Camry.
I think it must have been a past boyfriend that she decided to go with, .. and not marry the guy.

Am I wrong?

OTOH - I have never had any complaint with my Camry's.

Yea it's a odd commercial when you think about it.

So he objected to her marriage and then she jumps in his car and drives away, to presumably be with him. Why was she even engaged to someone else if she was willing to walk on her wedding day?

I'm guessing stuff like that has happened. I was wondering if anyone here knew of such an occurrence.

I know a guy that called off his Saturday wedding on Thursday evening.

I just think that commercial was just unsound, and flawed, and whatever message they were trying to send is being completely missed(as obvious in this thread alone)

But to your last point, the Camry's are a decent car, but the price tag isn't worth the type of car it is.

That very well could be true, .. I don't shop around that much any more. I haggle around a little, but if I'm comfortable with the payment, I don't care much beyond that.
I don't have to feel as if I got the best deal in the universe to be happy.

I have had several Toyota's, since 1975, (10 to be exact, .. I always say they should put our family in a commercial) and have not had an issue with any one of them.

That is important to me because I hate to mess with car issues.

When I turn the key, I want it to start, ... when I push a button I want that to work. And I want the car to look good when I clean it up.

My Toyota's have always been great. Not saying that other cars aren't good, .. or may even be better. I have just been comfortable with my Toyota's.

My 3 kids of driving age are driving 2002 Camry's. Complete peace of mind for me as a parent. When my 4th gets her license in a couple years she'll be driving a Toyota as well.

This is what makes me chuckle at that commercial.

According to the commercial if you want to be a bad *** rebel who sneers at convention and can steal the bride right off the alter you should drive a camry.

Just like the millions of others who drive camrys.

You've got it right.

The message isn't "get the girl with by driving a Camry", it's "take a second look. The Camry is now bold, younger, more exciting." Kind of like a girl looking at an old reliable boyfriend that just lacked the excitement /passion, but he finally took that step and stopped being so bland. Now he's got it all.

It's association, not literal, like you've mentioned.

Yeah they really are. The toyota brand is solid gold in he car world.

I work for an auto lender. Most if not all Toyotas are very highly ranked. The tacoma in particular may be the best investment you can make when buying a vehicle because of how well they hold their value. The Camrys aren't too far behind.

We're not reluctant to give big advances on them because the car is likely going to be fine regardless of human error in maintenance, and if the customer ever defaults on their payment, we can remarket the vehicle for near the full advance we paid out.

They're great, great vehicles.

Here's the one complaint I get from outfitting my kids in Camry's. Whenever they see another Camry on the road it's being driven by a senior citizen
