CB Brice McCain, Utah ---> 4.33 (4.36)

notice, i didnt post all of them, just the ones i thought besides the obvious that might have a chance;

Players from TCU seemed to dominate the group with reportedly five Horned Frogs attending the session: RB Aaron Brown, C Blake Schlueter, LB Jason Phillips, LB Stephen Hodge and LB Robert Henson. Phillips, though, still is on crutches following surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee suffered at the combine workout.

Two notable University of Texas players reportedly worked out, G Cedric Dockery, whose brother Derrick is a starter for the Washington Commanders, along with converted DE Henry Melton, who played two seasons at running back for the Longhorns before becoming a defensive end.

Among some of the other players reportedly invited to work out for the Cowboys were New Mexico State QB Chase Holbrook, Oklahoma CB Lendy Holmes, Houston DE Phillip Hunt, Utah DB Brice McCain and Texas Tech DE Brandon Williams.

Wonder why no Roy Miller?, or are we trying to hide our interest?.

Pretty sure Miller was never close enough to qualify for Dallas Day. He's from Kileen, right? That and UT are more than 100 miles from DFW.

Brice McCain was consistently the best DB on that Utah secondary. Better than Sean Smith.

Why would be look at a RB?

I guess T Choice all of a sudden as real value, so if we found someone in camp we loved maybe they would consider trading Barber or Choice? Can't see it really. Otherwise, I'm a bit confused...again.

Returner? ST? Likely just doing their due diligence for UDFA.

they didn't really test Brice

you want some free agents that go undrafted, so you can have some camp bodies, so others wont get worn out during scrimmages, etc

Two interesting pass-rusher prospects take part in Dallas Day

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

Two pass-rushers who could potentially be late-round steals are reportedly working out at Valley Ranch today as part of the Cowboys' annual Dallas Day.

Texas Tech's Brandon Williams and Texas' Henry Melton are both college defensive ends in the 6-3, 260-pound range who will probably be converted to 3-4 outside linebackers in the pros.

Williams, an under-the-radar recruit from Fort Worth South Hills High, produced like an early-round pick for Tech last season. He led the Big 12 with 13 sacks as a junior and decided to declare for the draft when he got word he was projected as a third-round pick. His stock dropped when he ran a 4.95 40 at the combine.

Melton, a heralded recruit from Grapevine High, didn't do much to distinguish himself as a defensive end for the Longhorns. Melton arrived at UT as a running back and spent two seasons there, rushing for 10 touchdowns as a freshman for a national title team. He moved to DE before his junior season and didn't start until he was a senior, when he had four sacks. But he's a physical marvel who might have pushed his way into the draft with a spectacular pro day performance that included running the 40 in the 4.5 range.

McCain better than Sean Smith??? Sorry but that's comical. Sean Smith will be the best corner in this draft when you look back 5 years from now.

Watch out, your ignorance (not to mention your childishness) is showing.

All you had to do was look up some articles prior to 2008 to see the opposing coaches comments. Watch a game or two maybe. McCain, despite being 5'9, was the shut down corner on that team. Other teams avoided him. McCain was a 3 time all conference player (compared to Smith's one all-MWC). If McCain is 6'0, he is easily drafted before Sean Smith.

Smith thinks he is the next DRC but w/his stiff hips he would be lucky to be the next Bobby Taylor. At corner, he may only be able to play in a Tampa 2 cover scheme. His best bet to excel is at FS, but he does not appear interested.

Smith has been productive, but not the level of McCain. If Cowboys are not able to draft Webb in the middle rounds, I hope they can nab McCain.

Same here. And it wouldn't surprise me with the way we seem to like these local guys.

Owened Wilson

he was All-MWC with all of 3 picks for his career
