McCain better than Sean Smith??? Sorry but that's comical. Sean Smith may be the best safety in this draft when you look back 5 years from now.

well I was the last person to reply on the topic and you didn't quote anyone, so...

All you had to do was look up some articles prior to 2008 to see the opposing coaches comments. Watch a game or two maybe. McCain, despite being 5'9, was the shut down corner on that team. Other teams avoided him. McCain was a 3 time all conference player (compared to Smith's one all-MWC). If McCain is 6'0, he is easily drafted before Sean Smith.


Smith thinks he is the next DRC but w/his stiff hips he would be lucky to be the next Bobby Taylor. At corner, he may only be able to play in a Tampa 2 cover scheme. His best bet to excel is at FS, but he does not appear interested.


Smith has been productive, but not the level of McCain. If Cowboys are not able to draft Webb in the middle rounds, I hope they can nab McCain.

McCain is a better fit here than Sean Smith.

Smith will go late first imho(thus is gone before we pick) and McCain will fall a good ways but McCain fits better as a nickel man cover guy in our scheme.

We have grabbed a lot of r6 and r7 guys we brought in on Dallas Day.

I'd be willing to bet we get 3 or 4 of these guys because of all the late picks.

Melton and Brandon Williams I would love. Melton is a practice squad guy year 1 but he could really develop. Brandon is a solid pass rusher who will imho play a game similar to Greg Ellis.

McCain is also a stellar returner, averages over 15 yds in punt returns and over 25 yds in kick returns. McCain's versatility & value (second day pick) combined with his sub 4.3 speed (matches his game speed) makes him a better fit.
