Ok,this is what I saw why we lost and how we or the Cowboys can fix the problems.

First, granted, the Patriots are a good team, they are still cheaters, and dirty players, but they are still a good very good team.

Second, until we or the Cowboys find out why we dont come out of the gate, and dont score points until the 2nd or 3rd quater, if you look at all of our 6 games, we dont really score until the 3rd quarter. Until that is fixed, either lack of fire or desire in the 1st quarter if fixed we will have problems against good teams.

Third, if you remember last year, on some plays last year, with Dallas Cowboys on defense, on slant plays, several critical interceptions were made by Aaron Glenn, we miss his leadership and savvy on slant plays, and helping newman in the secondary. Nate Jones and Reeves arent getting the job done.

If it was me, I would call the Jacquars up and trade a 5th to 6th round pick to Jacksonville for Aaron Glenn.

Every time, we come out in 1st quarter, Julius Jones comes out in 1st quarter, runs alittle and goes down on first couple of plays, that has to stop. Now either the offensive linemen that are getting super money to play guys like Gurode, Flozell, Columbo and Davis arent doing their job and taking it too lightly on 1st quarter or Julius Jones isnt running hard enough in 1st quarter, that has to stop.

Then, best to my knowledge, Commissioner Goodell was suppose to announce this week if Tank Johnson could come back after the 6th or 7th or 8th game, to my memory he hasnt announced it yet, we need a good NT to help out Ratliff at NT.

Next, granted Tyson Thompson returned a kickoff for 70 plus yards, but, but, his average if you take that back on kickoffs was 16 yard kickoff average, something has to change there, either more guys focused on blocking like they did on the big kickoff return or a better kickoff returner.

Next, I am not sure any of you are aware of this, but Julius Jones was an excellent punt returner at Notre Dame, why not try him at that spot. We need a good kick returner and punt returner, and No, we do not need Newman returning punts, thats how he got hurt in the first place.

If we can get Tank Johnson back this week will help significantly.

Almost done, the penalities have got to stop, like illegal shifts, or offsides is totally uncalled for. No way should a WR or TE jump offside or shift in motion, or a NT jump offsides.

Finally, if we can get by the Vikings and win that game next week,, with a little more fire from the offense, God Bless Marion Barber, he has heart, something that some of the offensive players need. And if we can get Tank Johnson back quickly, get by Vikings with a win, get the bye week, get Hoyte back after that, and Terry Glenn back where we can spread defenses like Patriots did us, and maybe get Aaron Glenn back, look out!!!!!!!!!

Our DC and Wade got schooled today.

Bill is brilliant.

They had an awesome game plan.

We didn't adjust or plan for it.

I stopped reading right there. We let him go for a reason. Now just 6 weeks later we should trade 2 draft picks for him? He was on the waiver wire and now he is worth a 5th and 6th?

We lost because we had too many penalties, dropped passes and the Patriots are a good team. You can not make those mistakes and still win against a good team.
You can count on Flozell to have a couple of false starts and holding penalties and TO to drop a few passes.

Exactly. Blaming the coaching staff for this one is absolutely ********.

We had no answer for Wes Welker om 3rd down, the need for Aaron Glenn rant is knee jerk ( And I Love Aaron Glenn). I would like to see a healthy Henry and Newman on the D. We should not be ashamed, our team played the whole game, they are the better team tight now and ther e is no shame in saying so.

We need to to get back to business and beat Minnesota and head into the bye week 6-1, a mark we would all have felt was beyond hope after the preseason.

5 pre-snap penalties and a couple of dumb ones are what beat us. They might be better, but we certainly helped them today.

One thing we need is a quick WR/PR. We have failed to find a player(s) with these skills. We missed with late round choices (ie. Skyler Green 4th rd or Wane McGarity also 4th) After seeing Welker (who?) clean our clock today, it really reinforces our lack of a quick, shifty WR to make things happen. T Glenn is the closest thing we have. Stokely, ex-Colt, is an example of a very valuable WR that just was able to use his quickness to make things happen. It would also be nice if they could return punts because Crayton doesn't scare anyone back there either.

Parcells didn't believe in that. With him, it was size first, second, and third.

That isn't to blame him -- it's to say that we simply didn't look for that type player under the old philosophy. It'll take a year or two to acquire some.

Some--- just give me one player. On third downs, seems like most anything 2+ yds is a pass. We need more explosive players that can quickly beat a guy off the line catch the quick pass. If he can do something with it after the catch even better. So you simply get up tight and don't let these smaller guys off the line. Great for those teams with 2+ defenders that can come up and play tight way. Unfortunately, the Cowboys aren't one of those teams. I don't want a team of smurfs but how about one guy to fill that role.

Isn't that how T.O. has made his living?

Yes, TO has made a good career catching short WR screens and quick slants and using strenght and size to rack up YAC and move the chains. I guess I want someone else to be able to do similar things but maybe has a little different skill set. More quick/shifty/illusive than Owen's size/strength/speed.
A good 3rd down receiver that can also take it to the house as a PR.

Sounds like Terry Glenn to me. You won't find a quicker guy and he made some really nice plays running simple slants last year. Remember the Colts game? Good stuff. Oh and he will be back this season. We might solve our problem and not have to do a damn thing.

First off...bringing back Glenn makes as much sense as bringing back Dwayne Goodrich.

I like Reeves and outside of the Stallworth TD he was probably better than Newman today.

This coaching staff needs to start getting more aggressive with the opposing teams WR's. I can understand playing off Moss....but letting average smurfs like Stallworth and Welker off the line time after time without so much as a bump is goofy.

I am sorry, but I hate our group of wideouts as a whole. T.O is still an effective #1, Crayton has good hands and capable, but he is nothing more than a three because he has no speed. Hurd is a non-factor.

Tank will make an impact if he can spell Ratliff 20-25 snaps.

Would it be nuts to play Roy more as a LB in the nickle and let Watkins replace him in the secondary? I shutter everytime I see him back there.

Spears and Canty have been solid against the run....but one sack here and there shouldn't be much to ask.

DWare is an outstanding player...but to take the next step, he needs to be a force more regularly. He seems to be missing a mean streak.

Tyson Thompson's return was nice.....but he is a below average returner....can we please give our fourth round pick a shot???

Anyone know the whereabouts of Bobby Carpenter?

Your right. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure at what level he will be able to return this year or ever. Previously, we didn't have a 3rd receiver for teams to respect and particularly before T.O. Glenn's role often was far to often running the deep route to try and stretch the D. Now with Crayton stepping up & TO being able to stretch the D, I hope we can use him more like the role I stated. But he doesn't have the PR abilities.

Oh_Canada, i agree with what you said one some things. To anothers guys post, I didnt say we should trade 2 draft picks for aaron glenn, i said, either a 5th or 6th draft choice, just one pick.

Just think now, do you remember when Aaron Glenn intercepted 3 passes, he jumped the routes, we dont have a cornerback that seems to know how to do that. Reeves and Jones have been here 4 years, if they cant know how to do that by now, then they never will.

I agree letting the WRs like Welker, Stallworth off of the line of scrimmage was stupid without a jam. To me, that goes back to coaching by the defensive back coaches. Now i did see one thing, and it makes sense, if you remember stewart our defensive coordinator said the defensive backs have to learn wade phillips new style of coverage, and until they do, they lose positioning and they will turn guys loose. That happened several times on touchdown passes. Thats why I wanted Aaron Glenn, he has played in all styles of defenses, and he could help in that area, especially when the opponents offense is in scoring area, and you can put glenn at cb, and let newman cover the slot wr like he did last year, thats what i am saying for wanting glenn back.

Thats what i was leading up too, we need to try Stanback at kickoff returner, if you look at the last 5 games, thompson would run straight into the runner, the kickoff returner needs to be able to cut and move like Welker.

Anyone know the whereabouts of Bobby Carpenter?
i think you will see him back after the bye, got to remember he injured a quad, partial tear, which takes about 4 weeks to recover, its been about 3 weeks now and rather than opt for surgery he kept playing, so i think after the bye he will get back to playing better. he does however need to get into the offseason workouts and get a whole lot stronger. he has the speed, but he isnt strong enough.
