Twitter: Okoye Cleared to Return

Finally a little good news on the injury front. It would be a huge bonus if he can return to form

I assume that his medical issue didn't keep him from working out.

He was a legit NFL player when healthy in Chicago and he's still just 27. He has 16 career sacks and 59 games started. For comparison, Nick Hayden has 2 career sacks.

Another player that needs to be on the PUP to start the season... Why start him practicing now, so he can take up a roster spot and not contribute?

Okay -- we'll take all the help we can get. ~scratches head, wondering what the heck his ailment was~

I guess it's none of my business but I would be interested in knowing what this mysterious ailment is that's been keeping him off the field. All indications are that he was a legit prospect coming out of college. Hoping we hit on this pickup.

Broadus indicated that it was a neurological issue on TalkinCowboys a few weeks back. It was so bad that it caused him to lose weight prior to joining the team. Like Josh Brent, it will be interesting to see what type of shape he is in once he joins the team. We could certainly use some help on the defensive line. I'm not expecting much. I wish he played RDE.

My wife is a Neuropsychologist. I heard reports, prior to this season, that he had lost a lot of weight and was gaining it back. A brain injury or problem with the hypothalamus would cause that.

Interesting. It figured to be something like that.

I have to say, I don't have high hopes for Okoye, but at least he knows the scheme and should fit in in that regard if he's ok to compete physically. Let's hope he is.

They could keep him on the NFI list going into the season. Unlike the PUP, I think players can come off the NFI at any time.

He has proven to be a serviceable NFL player with 16 career sacks and 59 starts before age 26.

Sounds touchy -- this leaves me wondering what might happen if he gets his noodle pounded really hard. Guess we'll find out.

No idea what will happen with Okoye, but I think there was a chance that Ben Bass truly was expendable.

One is a nose the other a three technique. Nice try though.
