Wouldn't Robinson and Thomas be awesome additions to our OL? I ask, because that would give us this OL for the future

LT - Smith
LG - Robinson
C - Frederick
RG - Thomas
RT - Free

IMO, that would give us the best young OL in the NFL, at least on paper. Unfortunately, Robinson has played and combined his way into a top 5 pick.

So with that being said, let's say we do go after two OGs in the draft, one being Thomas. Who would you take as the other OG?

My top two choices would be Kadeem Edwards first, Dakota Dozier second.

I would hope we continue with rebuilding the OL. We've got two excellent young pieces at, IMO, the two most critical spots along the line in Tyron and Frederick. We could really put together a beast of a line with more emphasis on it. It could become the real strength of the team.

But I'm afraid our braintrust thinks it's fixed. Hey, it's no longer a liability. Glad that's done.

Greg Robinson would be an OT and Free would be benched. Unfortunately, it appears that Free's 2014 salary becomes guaranteed if they keep him on the roster and they have to make that decision before the draft.

Thomas is tailor made for this offensive line. If we don't get him, I am actually going to be disappointed. I think he's perfect for us.

Free played very well last year, except in the final game or so when he had some penalty issues. I was very pleased with his drastic improvement over 2012.

Thankfully, I think we can add a really nice piece to the line in the 3rd/4th round

Thomas
Dozier
Watt
Steen
Bitonio

And 2 OT's I like

Billy Turner
Juwan James

That's 7 guys in the 3rd/4th round range I would be very happy with. Concentrate on the D in the 1st 2 rounds but be sure to continue to build the o line

They altered the OL scheme in 2013 to help Free. They had the RG keep a closer than normal spacing to Free in Pass Pro. This prevented outside rushers from beating Free to the inside and allowed Free to overset to the outside which gave him a big advantage. They compensated for the RG compensating for Free by having Frederick favor blocking to the right. They were able to this because they had enough faith in Leary to handle himself. Leary was often on a island similar to an OT while the right side of the line was congested with Fred, Bern and Free all closely spaced.

They also tailored the run blocking to work around Free's inability to power block. On many run blocks they would have Free give up the outside which would cause his man to take himself out of the play while Bern and Fred would take care of any power blocking in runs to the right.

It was brilliant coaching, but Free's issues made everybody else's job more difficult.

I'm not a fan of Cyril Robinson. I do like Thomas he is in my top 5 and have been since January. I like the kid from UCF more than any of these OGs.
I would also be fine with a OT If it's BPA. Free is gone after this year

I agree with Thomas but he is the only OG I like in your group. I like both of your OTs

He will be gone after this year. He is a 7 million cap hit next year or a 7 million cap savings if released next offseason.

Both Jerry and Stephen have gone on record in the past days saying they are prepared to go OL high should the opportunity present itself.
Even in the first.
Surely you of all people have read the quotes, right?
Maybe not- given the thoughts you just expressed.

I've read this before, but it's still very interesting to reread.
A good bit of coaching, but something I'm sure a good DC could exploit one way or another.
They need a better RT and soon.

I think it is Cyril Richardson that you mean..........and I am not talking about the guy from Baylor. I am talking about the beast from Auburn. The point is moot anyway, as he will be gone in the top 5 in the draft.
