FORT WORTH For the second consecutive season, TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon has been named to the All-Mountain West Conference first team.
Cannon, a mammoth 6-foot-6, 350-pound lineman from Odessa High who spent the last two seasons at the run-blocking right tackle spot, moved to the left side in the wake of former left tackle Marshall Newhouse’s graduation.
Cannon has been rock-solid protecting quarterback Andy Dalton’s blind side, and the Horned Frogs have finished the season undefeated and await a BCS bowl berth, likely to the Rose Bowl unless Auburn or Oregon is upset this weekend. In that scenario, Cannon and the rest of the Horned Frogs could be playing for the BCS National Championship.
Newhouse was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.
