I'm not using a first round pick on Raimann. He will be 25 years old the day he's drafted.

The primary value of draft picks is that they play on rookie contracts.
- Teams need to get production from players on rookie contracts in order to manage the cap.
- If a over-age rookie is 'ready now' then the team will get more from him on his rookie contract than from a very young player that is not ready year 1.

Once players reach the end of their rookie contracts, they cost as much as free agents from another team.

With QBs, it is almost impossible to sign a top quality player in free agency but teams 'buy' top quality OLinemen every year.
