OL Situation

So Jerrah got no FAs that might be able to help so far this offseason. Anyone think he will, or can? How much you willing to bet that he doesn't draft an OG/C in the 1st or 2nd round this draft?

Okay, so on to what we have on the OL besides a big pile of steaming crap.

Jerrah spent money here last offseason and got nothing for it. Arkin needs to get stronger or he may be past by Leary. The real question is can we get two of these to become NFL caliber starters by August?

with the exception of Smith we are populated by backups, JAGS, and worse.

Of course he can. There are several serviceable OL FAs out there right now. There are already a number of threads about them, and some of the threads are concerning the Cowboys having interest in them. By all appearances, it looks like they are waiting to see how the draft shakes out, and if we fail to get some good o-line help in the draft, we'll look to the FAs. It appears that this is the approach the whole league is taking, since the FA market seems to be doing nothing at the moment.
I know the track record for o-line improving moves is abysmal around here, but just like last year the FO went all out to improve the cornerback situation, I truly believe this year they address the 0-line. So, if the BPA is o-line at each round of the draft, I feel sure Garrett has that at the top of his priority list, and if it doesn't work out that way, plan B will be to sign some FAs to improve the line.
I don't necessarily know if any of these moves will work out, as we seem to be snake-bitten when it comes to developing OL, but I think they will make the effort.

If he follows his plan from last offseason, he will upgrade the OL. Last offseason he signed the top rated FA corner and traded up to draft the top rated rookie corner. Obviously signing the top rated FA guard or tackle is out of the question since they've already signed weeks ago, and no way he's gonna trade into the top 5 to draft one of the top rated tackles... but, there's still a chance he invests this offseason into upgrading the OL like he did last year with the corners. It'll be interesting to see. It seems like the reason he upgraded the secondary last season and not the OL was because he just brought in a new D coordinator and he wanted to make him happy. He had no reason to try to woo head coach JG. Now he's bringing in a new D coordinator again. Do you think he'll give Monte the freedom to go after anyone he wants like he gave Rob last year?
