Olawale as a TE?

I don't think this is the case, but I do believe the Cowboys could see him as a better option than putting a second tight end on the field. One reason we've used so much two-tight end the past few years is because the fullbacks are limited as pass catchers. Olawale might be a better pass catcher than most of our backup tight ends, plus he's a running threat and better than they are as a lead blocker.

I'd like to see us reverse our uses of the fullback and two-tight end sets, going with the fullback more, unless Gathers looks like a world beater.

I could see lining him up there sometimes but the real answer at TE is Rico or a draft pick and I don’t see a draft pick of any significance used on a te this year

Stupid TE idea...they saved 500,000 and got a better run blocker, a worse pass blocker (who cares), a worse down field receiver, but better runner.

If true, I see it as more of a motion to TE than lining up as a TE initially in the formation, which could cause some match up problems for other teams.

Im hoping these "people from Dallas" were discussing this after a rowdy night of drinks and throwing some shizzz at the wall

There's so much wrong with this post. First of all, Smith is reported to be the better run blocker (though marginally), Second our new FB was the 2nd highest rated pass blocker from his position according to PFF (what regard you hold their rankings is up to you but they're the only ones doing it). Third, Olawale is BY FAR the better down field receiver and (again) BY FAR the better runner. Unless you are comparing him to someone else, I'm not really understanding where you're coming from in this post, my friend.
