During this years draft, we are hearing a new meaning of what some look at as bravery.

But I give to you "old school bravery" in an UDFA that signed with the Eagles.

U.S. Army Ranger First Lt. Alejandro Villanueva is getting his shot at the NFL.

Villanueva, 25, a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, and former Army Ranger, spent the last four years as an active member of the Army, serving in three tours in Afghanistan, where he earned a bronze star Medal for valor for moving forward under enemy fire to pull wounded soldiers from an isolated position..

Now that’s BRAVERY.

He is 6' 9", and last played football in 2009 at the U.S. Military Academy, where he was West Point's top wide receiver as a senior.

This story is much bigger than football. I think after going through the things that this young man has faced, a NFL training camp shouldn't be a problem . I wish him the best. He sure deserves it after serving our country.

The Taliban are notoriously bad shots for the most part. At 6'9", he's a big target. Hope he does well.

Wow 6'9" and walking into bullets without getting hit, that's Divine Intervention right there...

Am I reading that wrong, or are you seriously poking holes in his military accomplishments by insinuating that the Taliban are bad shots?

I am glad that this thread has got some attention, even if it has gotten off course. Back to the subject, it is great that the young man is getting his chance in the NFL. It looks like he is a fine soldier and after his sacrifice , it would be great if he could live out his dream and play pro football. I will pull for him and wish him the best, even if he is an Eagle. He deserves every good thing that he has coming to him. This is a hero and I think that term is overused in today's society, but it fits him.

You're definitely reading it wrong.

Oh, .. ok, good.

So what did "The Taliban are notoriously bad shots for the most part" mean in response to me saying, "earned a bronze star Medal for valor for moving forward under enemy fire" ?
