Leary played great against the 49ers.

When Collins is back does he get his job back? It has been stated that Collins has had some issues this season and not playing admirably.

Right Tackle - Doug Free is constantly the weak link on this line.

When Smith comes back does Green take some snaps at RT? When Collins comes back does he take some snaps at RT and leave Leary at LG?

Great problem to have, but I think we need to take a look at either Collins or Green to replace Free who gets beat at least 3 times each game.

I like Lael and his potential but if Leary plays like he did vs SF, not sure you can remove him from the lineup.

I think we just let things play out. Neither LG or RT should be cemented. We're only 4 weeks into the season, with the depth we have at OLine, we just let their play be the barometer as far as who gets starting gigs. I'm not sold on Green though. Love me some Leary, and I think it's a wash at LG.

They said on the Fan, or on the Ticket this morning, can't remember which. But said when Smith returns, do they try what they did with Free and Parnell, with Free and Green. To see if Green can eventually over take Free at RT.
I always felt Parnelll was not the answer there. But feel Green can possibly do this. If they do that at all.

Was Green false starting yesterday or is he just that quick out of his stance? Either way he played LT, the toughest spot on the line the last 2 games and did a damn good job. If he can play that way at RT he is better than Free, IMO.

He really is the better player. If it weren't for his back troubles, he wouldn't have been benched. Collins is getting the time b/c he's close to as good and we're not going to give Leary with his wobbly knees a career contract. So we're playing Collins to get him up to speed as a player we actually would extend long-term. But I don't think there should be any doubt that Leary's the better player right now. At least he is to my eyes.

Leary is vastly outplaying Collins.

It's interesting that they preferred to run behind Leary and Green yesterday more than the right side.

But for the team wouldnt it make sense to try Collins or Green at RT? Free is so bad. Its obvious he is the weak link

I've never agreed with the thought that Free is all that bad, to start. He does have trouble with a guy who both has a strong bull rush and an inside move, but generally he's been a pretty good RT his whole career.

And I"m not as high on Collins as most of our fans seem to be. I think he's a good, developing LG, but that's where I'd keep him. He's got a short rookie deal and a fair amount of work to do before I'm comfortable paying him what he's going to command. And I think Jerry has a wink-wink-nudge-nudge deal ready for him as part of his rookie wine-and-dine. I just want him to stay in one place an be good enough to justify most of the deal we're probably going to give him.

Green, however, I'd probably start rotating in late in games the way we did with he-who-will-not-be-named in preparation for Free's departure. My only question with Green at this point is his ability to stay healthy. Well, that, and I'd like to see him play as well at RT as he has here in relief at LT, but I think that's pretty likely given enough time and snaps.

Those two are much better at run blocking with their bulk then the right side.

I seriously consider playing Collins at RT and keeping Leary. That will be one scary OL if it pans out.

I'll tell you why this isn't happening. ...

Green is a better T than Collins

But you guys can keep on stating & hoping for Collins at RT all the while ignoring these facts:
1. Collins lined up at RT during his 1st week of OTA last year
2. Collins took some snaps[practice ] 2wks ago at RT due to Tyron being out & Green certainly playing LT & Free having the ankle issue

Otherwise Collins hasn't as much as sniffed that RT spot.....

But go ahead......Collins is our starting RT

I know that's not true because I have it on good authority that Romo's back is too old to know how to use a phone that does not have a rotary dial on it.

He jumped the gun a good 3 times. None were called. I need to see more from Green. But he has done more than held his own.

I was concerned about our tackle depth going into this season, but Green has definitely helped make line depth a strength. We knew Leary was a good player who only got replaced because of the opportunity to sign Collins. I was for trading Leary if we could get something decent for him, but I'm glad we kept him. I think Looney would be OK if he had to step in, but Leary is a monster run blocker.

I think Green is Free's eventual replacement and wouldn't mind if we rotated him in some at that spot when Smith returns. I also wouldn't mind giving more playing time to Leary when Collins returns, but I do think Collins is the future there and Leary will leave for greener pastures after this season.
